So a standard hyphen/minus sign form a keyboard is ok

The issue seem to be using a non standard unicode dash (non-breaking-hyphen) like !!!8211; !!!8211; !!!8211;

I don't have any of the affected characters in my signature. e.g. a forward or backward facing quotations mark as used by apple, or a non standard hyphen.

It's quite specific to those not standard ones you don't normal use on a PC/laptop keyboard.

Also only likely to be from parsing new content by the forum, not existing stuff in the db like sigs.

Probably either their database is no longer using UTF-8 character set, or they have issue with a bug in some sql-injection protection add-on.

I'm sure I'm not the only one fed up with seeing the above symbols. They are appearing instead of the ' apostrophe on some people's postings. Is it a browser issue, or posting from a phone or something?


Any chance you can get it sorted MSE?

As much as it might annoy some - won!!!8217;t be using apostrophes for the foreseeable future (my devices appear to be affected as of today)!
