I find fingerless gloves really useful indoors on freezy days, @OBL.  My hands get much less stiff (arthritis) if they are warm.

Not sure where you live but B&M had the Elizabeth Shaw mints.
  • Another vote for fingerless mittens. They are brilliant. I am wearing a cami top type vest, a long sleeved thermal base layer, fleece, 2 pairs of leggings and leg warmers....oh and a body warmer/gilet type thing. just had to click the heating back up as it is starting to get really cold now.

I'm going to find them and start using them, I don't know why I didn't think of it before 🙄

We have two B&M stores but they are two bus rides away from me so a long way to go 😟

I got busy and soon warmed up 😀

  • I ended up having a productive afternoon. I decided to declutter some toys the DGS don't play with anymore and put them on my local community page free for collection. I know I could have sold them but times are hard and they would have all made good Xmas presents. Two of the items went within half an hour of being posted and the other item is waiting to be picked up if she turns up for it. I feel good that I've decluttered what amounted to three quite large boxes of toys 🎉🎉🎉 I also have a travel cot and a high chair seat that attaches to a dining chair but they weren't cheap so I will sell them.

I then did some diy. The cupboard door from the cupboard under the sink came off ages ago when one of the hinges snapped, so today I replaced it. I was doing the dishes this morning and could feel a proper draft coming from that cupboard,it's now gone 🎉🎉🎉 so my legs wont get cold now 😊

I also dusted the living room and swept the floors. DD packed some of her belongings that she won't be using and we have stacked them in a corner on the landing so some of the empty boxes I've collected for moving have now gone from the liv g room making it look less like a warehouse. I'm trying to keep on top of cleaning and tidying but I'm not going too mad because there are boxes piled up in corners everywhere and I have major plans fo a declutter and deep clean when DD has moved out. I'm saving for when she is gone so it will keep me busy and hopefully ward off empty nest syndrome. I'm going to get as much of the indoors done while the weather is cold and horrible in the hope I will finish in the spring and can then move onto the garden. I'm quite excited about getting started now knowing I'm well enough to do the jobs 😀

I would have offered to send you some but apparently everyone's parcels are in Bristol being eaten by foxes and "big mice". Maybe send the person who needs them to fetch them or do you know anyone who passes near a B&M on the way to work? Home Bargains had them too but they seem to be a North West region only shop. Amazon do them but charge more but if you're factoring in the bus fare they may be cheaper?

I can also recommend the fingerless mittens too but my favourites (I ordered more for this winter) are the ones that my aunty bought me last Christmas which have little gripping dots on the palms. I tend to drop things a lot so any extra grip is useful. I was given some fingerless compression mittens by the physiotherapist but I gave them to my friend who has arthritis as I'm allergic to polyester which is what they were made from.

It's lovely to read that you are so busy and pain free. I can't even tell you how great it is to read about all the things that you're doing after you were in so much pain not so long ago.

Thankyou, it feels great to be able to get on and do things again without pain or having to then spend a few days getting over it.
I got some Elizebeth Shaws on my way home from work today 🎉🎉

Ive found my fingerless gloves but they are a bit musty so have gone in the wash

  • Another day at work complete and it was another crazy busy one. The trust declared a critical incident halfway through the morning due to a backlog of ambulances parked up outside 😟 it was downgraded in the afternoon thank god.

I got my hands on some mints on my way home along with some smoked cheese which I couldn't find anywhere and some cranberry sauce 🎉🎉and also went into Waterstones and picked up two board games for the DGSs so that's their Christmas presents done. Tomorrow we are going to our local garden centre and I might be lucky enough to find some type of food hamper for my mum and dad, if not I think I'm going into town on a Tuesday so can look for something then.

I am now off to bed to hopefully sleep 🤞
