  • You are so right there OBL. Autoimmune diseases are becoming so common it seems now and Drs tend to just dismiss them as being  "just autoimmune" and don't really understand them or want to do anything about them.   I was told I shouldn't have HRT due to my mum having had breast cancer, but my sister's GP happily prescribed it for her.....go figure!!  I think that is part of the reason I ended up with Osteoporosis. But hey, we can't have it all ways can we. My attitude now is that every day is a blessing and as long as we wake up every morning, that's the main thing.
Hope you're having a good day and keeping warm.

  • Wow it's been cold here today,I woke up to a severe frost this morning. I took B out and then we had to go into town for shopping🥶🥶 we walked into town so that warmed us up.
I was supposed to pick up an order from Next but it had been delayed. Then we went to Mr S for our shopping and managed to find lots of Christmas food 🎉🎉we always have a buffet style tea on Boxing Day and they had lots of veggie friendly bits that were freezable so I bought all the bits I think we will like.
I just need to buy desert for Christmas Day plus cheese and crackers and the chocolates and nuts for picking at over the Christmas period. I'm not panicking so much now I've bought some bits. I'm making a nut roast Christmas Eve so will take some of that to DD1s for Christmas Day, they will have turkey so we always take something with us, there will be some of that left over for lunch on Boxing Day if we want it. I'm not buying lots of drinks because DD2 has stopped drinking alcohol and I can take it or leave it. I will buy some Baileys and some sparkly wine and I think that's all.

DD 2 is off out tonight for another one of her Christmas dos and I am staying at home in the warm. The Murder On The Orient Express is on tonight so I might watch that 😊

I love HRT.  I didn't have even the remotest bit of arthritis until the doctors made me come off it.  Within weeks my hands were distorted.  That is when I stopped trusting doctors & their, there are no negative effects BS.

This makes me angry. There is no need to stop taking HRT at any stage of life. It is after all just replacing what your body provides naturally through your whole life. I liken it to be I g a diabetic, they wouldn't deny diabetics the hormone they need to live and have a good quality of life so why do they do this with HRT 😟

I was allowed HRT even though my mum and sister had breast cancer 🤷‍♀️ It's a complete fallacy that HRT increases your risk. They need to do more research and this time use women that are more representative of women in general. I read the book Oestrogen Matters by Avrum Bluming and it's mind blowing

  • I had a lovely cosy evening last night watching a film called Finding Your Feet. It was funny and sad with a happy ending and perfect for this time of year, it starred Imelda Staunton, Celia Imrie , Timothy Spall and Joanna Lumley . I absolutely love Celia Imrie , she is one of my most favourite actresses of all time and she played a good part 😊

I did also watch Murder On The Orient Express but had to abandon it because my headache had come back and it was just too painful to carry on watching it so I went to bed. I slept really well last night but I did have a dream that I  bought a small black Shetland pony to keep as a pet instead of a dog 😂😂

Today I woke up to foggy, frosty and icy weather so I haven't been anywhere. B was happy with a run round the garden this morning, I was going to take her through the fields but my steps in the front garden were like an ice rink so I gave it a miss. I did have to go and sort out my chicken because her water would be frozen solid. I've put a plastic pot in there now to float around it won't freeze again I hope 🤞I'm wondering about the idea of sprinkling some cat litter on the front steps to stop them getting slippery, I did it last year and it worked pretty well. It just annoys me because it gets everywhere 😀

I've done my house jobs for the day and I'm going to do some knitting later.

It's a very interesting read written by an oncologist who treats women with breast cancer but who believes all women should be given HRT when they need it

I have infusions of bisphosponates once a year but my brother has a different one which is every 3 months. It must be the brand/variety you’re prescribed which makes the difference. They make a tremendous difference to his pain levels and he knows when he is ready for a top up. One of the side effects is to do with healing in the jaw after dental work, he’s had teeth extractions which are done at the hospital as a precaution but he’s never had any trouble. My dentist was having a rant about me being on the infusions when I last went but I’d started having more fractures and then started with stress fractures. Osteogenesis Imperfecta with osteoporosis on top make the risk worth it for me. But everyone has to weigh up what’s right for them. I haven’t broken anything - not even toes since I’ve been having them.
I can imagine B wondering what was going on with you walking much better again 😂😂
I’d been put on HRT at the hospital but my GP didn’t agree and kept trying to take me off it. After about 10 years I started bleeding whilst on it and she took me straight off it - no gradual decrease 😳 it was horrendous 😳
    January spends - £587.58

Thanks for the info Milann it's really helpful 😊 I read about the dental problems it can cause but dare I say it but my teeth are really healthy ,I've only ever had two fillings in my life and apart from having my wisdom teeth removed don't really have problems so from that point of view I thought it was worth the risk, the other risk is damage to the oesophagus which I'm sure can be avoided it you follow the advice given when taking them ,I'm also on medication to stop reflux so that will help too 😊 anyway I took my first one yesterday and have been fine so far so I will see how it goes.
Sadly when it comes to HRT most GPs don't know enough about it so they panic they don't have to do any extensive training on the menopause and I think they get a few hours at the most if they decided not to pursue for themselves. It's terrible really when you think how many of their patients are women and that all of them will go through it at some point. They probably just needed to change your dose and they should not have taken you offvit that suddenly 😟
