Obviously similar to co codamol, when I was on them for my broken ankle/leg around 20 mins after taking I went all floppy and relaxed. I could honestly see why people get addicted to them. I hate taking medication unless absolutely necessary so I was very sparing with them for that reason.

I had my follow up appointment today but as a phone appointment instead of face to face. The doctor had to work from home due to a poorly child so was only doing phone consults. I didn't get my phone call until 5pm so too late to go and get the prescription which means I've missed a day now, I'm hoping that will be ok

I have now been diagnosed officially with PMR due to the steroids working really well and have a treatment plan worked out. So I now have to take 15mgs of steroid a day along with a calcium supplement and vitD supplement for 6 days a week along with something to protect my bones that I only need to take once a week, this one has to be taken first thing in the morning and you have to remain upright for half an hour afterwards so no taking it and going back to bed 🙀 she isn't sure if I will get on with it because I have reflux but I just need to let them know if it upsets my stomach,I'm hoping it's ok because otherwise you have to have injections and I don't want that. I take Omeprazole so that should help 🤞🤞🤞 Im so glad I've got a prepayment certificate for all these meds 😊

I then have to have bloods in 4 weeks which is slap bang in the week between Christmas and new year so I've got her to order them on the hospital system so I can get them done while I'm at work then a week after that I have another phone appointment to review everything and go over my blood results. I've also got to carry a card with me to tell people I'm on steroids in case I'm in an accident or catch an infection. I am also ok to go back to work as soon as I want so I just need to check with my boss about the covid rules for our trust. I was still testing positive today so I'm not sure when I can go back, DD days it's still 10 days for hospital staff from the day you first had symptoms which was Thursday  for me so I don't think I can go back before Monday,I tried to phone today but couldn't get hold of anyone. I'm going to have to go out tomorrow to pick up my prescription but will wear a mask. My cough has almost gone now but I still feel a bit lurgified and still have a headache but hopefully that will go away soon.

Im really hoping that that is the joint problem solved and I can get back to normal. Today I enjoyed getting out of bed without hobbling across the floor, getting in and out of the bath for a shower without having to use my hands to lift my leg over the side and I can walk up the stairs without having to pull myself up on the hand rail. Last week before I went to the doctors I was actually only able to go up the stairs on my hands and knees because it was too painful to get up them . I've walked B and it was pain free 🎉🎉fingers crossed I'm ok on the lower dose 🤞🤞

Ive made an effort with my meals this week so today I had porridge for breakfast, soup for lunch and Butter chicken for tea I've also bought some oranges, bananas and grapes.

I also did some more knitting today so I'm now up to the armholes on the back of my jumper 🎉🎉

It must feel pretty amazing not to have that constant pain in your joints, @OBL. Finally a diagnosis & a treatment plan. That's all so good to read, knowing how you were struggling.

It is feeling pretty good at the moment. I've still got residual Fibromyalgia pain in my knees and lower leg but that's normal for me and although it's there in the background it's not something that stops me doing anything . The joint pain I was having over the last few months was on another level so it's a relief that it's gone. I know I can get back to walking as much as possible now to keep the Fibromyalgia at bay. I will also be able to get my jobs done now that have all been put on hold. Sadly it's too late for the garden which has disappeared under a massive pile of leaves, I'm clearing the steps and just leaving the rest of it until next year, I need a new lawnmower anyway because I blew mine up in the summer. I just want to get cracking now 😊

  • You are sounding so positive now, you are hopefully on the right path now with your health and can look forward to the future, when the Covid has finally gone.

It's great to hear you sounding so much better! Long may that continue. As for the garden, those leaves will hopefully benefit wildlife and in the spring they will compost, so you can pretend it's intentional. :)
