How did you get on with the decorations, did you manage to put any up? I've put most of mine up now.

I'm still as disgusted as you about daughter. Not decent facilities for those front line workers. Absolutely awful.
Has she had a better week? Being shouted at is not nice at all. I hope she's ok.
    Enjoy your weekend OBL x

I've put up the ones I can do on my own but have to make three paper chains tomorrow to hang up and do the tree that will take most of the day, I've got paper stars to hang in the window but will do that tomorrow

Please join your union ( I assume it is Unison) They were very helpful to me at various times when I worked for thhe NHS.

I was with the RCN but they weren't very good so I left intending to join Unison and still haven't done it, I really must get it done though, I will try and remember to do it tonight online now you've reminded me, I tried before but something went wrong so I left it intending to try again at some point

  • Christmas has landed at my house 😀or part of it has, we have made the garlands and hung up two walls worth, so just one wall to go and then it's tree time, we don't put a garland on the fourth wall because it's mostly window so there's no room for it,I do have a quilted Merry Christmas banner that I hang in the window along with some big paper stars, we have just stopped for a lunch break and will then tackle the tree 😊

  • Hope you enjoyed your macaroni cheese. My absolute favourite.
My macaronis cheese was lovely but I prefer it to be a bit stodgier than in was, it's my favourite too, I'm definitely going to make my own next time though 😊

  • I bet your Christmas decorations look nice. What are your garlands made of? Can you post photos of your decorations? We've put our tree up but not decorated it yet 🎄. I've put up icicle lights in the hall and berry lights around the living room 💥. I've also put up our two fabric advent calendars as they look festive . It's definitely making me feel more cheerful having the berry lights glowing as it's a grey miserable day outside 🙂.

I hope you and DD recover your sense of taste before Christmas as you'll enjoy the festive food more. Being shouted at by a manager is horrible for DD, but it sounds like typical NHS management based on the experience of my late sister who was a nurse and suffered with some really AWFUL bullying managers. Even when she had terminal cancer HR insisted on going to her house to interview her about her sickness record 😡😥.

  • I'm with GMB (healthcare related too) and really rate them but it does really depend on your local reps within the hospital. They were the only union to vote against the appalling pay deal a few years ago and I and others I know have always found them helpful if we've needed them  :)

I was advised to join the union in case a service user ever made a complaint against me (I worked with some people who had a history of this) but although I never had that problem I was able to use their legal services when I broke my ankle due to a large pothole in the pavement whilst Iwas escorting a service user which cost me nothing except repaying my salary for the time I couldnt work which I would have had to do anyway.

I work in the public sector and when Mr SA ran me over with his scooter and completely trashed my ankle, I was off sick for 3 weeks then went back to work in a wheelchair in a taxi when I could’ve been signed off for 12 weeks. Still had an interview because I hit the off for 3 weeks trigger 😩 Also asked whether it was likely to recur.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
