My cat took up residence in the greenhouse when we first got our dog. She soon got used to her though and they are now friends. Cats are funny like that.

Found J in our old derelict shed at the top of the garden and when I went to get him out he hissed at me 😟 we are going to keep them both in now for a couple of weeks and see how it goes, hopefully once they can go out J will be ok,I'm giving it a couple of weeks before calling it a day so they had better pull their socks up 😀

I have rehung my living room curtains so that's another job done. I've also been out and sorted the 🐓🐓out and tidied around,I'm done for the day now so can chill out a bit more now 😊

These two cats came here as kittens together but have been apart for 7 years so don't remember each other, J did come downstairs just now and they just sat looking at each other but there was no hissing this time
I've just read that we should have put the new cat in a separate room for a few days and then introduced them gradually.so I made space in the spare room and put A in there with all his bits,he did not like it one bit so I've let him back out now 😀 they will just have to get on with it themselves

The cat group I am in for the breed we have just got seems very divided about this. All the breeders are just, 'throw them in together and keep an eye, separate if you are leaving the house/at night if they are agressive' sort of a let them get on with it. They say if they are separated they can still smell each other and get stressed.

Apparently wiping a clean cloth over the resident cat and then over the new one can help as it masks the new smell.

The new cat has spent lots of time locked away from the rest of his family due to his aggressive behaviour so I didn't really want to go down that route. I read about putting him in a separate room on the Battersea website but he was so distressed I couldn't do it to him 😟 they also mentioned about wiping a damp cloth over the resident cat and then new one so I'm going to start doing that tomorrow. We had to leave them in the house by  themselves today while we were at work and they were both fine when my DD got home, there is plenty of room in the house for them to keep away from each other so I'm going to let them get on with it and take their time, I think things will also get better when A  is allowed out, we are keeping them both in at the moment because yesterday when we let J out he wouldn't come back 😟

First day back at work went well. We had a busy surgical list so the morning whizzed by 😊
Im off tomorrow and have no plans to go anywhere. I'm spending the day at home doing house jobs and encouraging the cats to be best buddies.DD just brought J downstairs and left him here,he is on one settee and A is on the other and so far they are just ignoring each other which is an improvement. We had to leave them today while we both worked and they were both still alive when DD got back and the house was still in one piece 😊

Cats do make me laugh. We had a male and female cat a few years ago who didn't get on. The female cat bossed the male about and would often take a swipe at him. One day she went up to him and started washing his head, it was so funny, the expression on his face, he was too scared to move 🤣
