Happy New Year
On the washing on New Year's Day front, I did this last 20 years ago and unfortunately that year I lost my lovely mum suddenlyI know it was just a coincidence but I won't do it again just in case. Having said that don't forget I was hit by a car recently on Friday 13 December and broke my leg, superstitious nonsense - maybe not.
Some good achievable goals there by the wayI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

I just can't bring myself to take the chance, it does mean we either have a mad rush to get the washing done before the date or we take a chance and have to wear whatever is avail,it's led to some interesting outfits over the years 😂Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -

I'm not particularly superstitious but I do touch wood and don't walk under ladders :rotfl:.

I'm wondering if it's local to Derby where I originally come from "Don't wash clothes on New Year's Day you'll wash a loved ones life away " lots of my friends won't do washing on New Year's Day,my mum is very superstitious so I was brought up with all these extra rules to abide by,I literally follow them to the letterOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
What an interesting superstition, OBL. I have never heard of it. I live in the Midlands, though grew up in a different region & although I know various old superstitions from grandparents & older relatives, that is the first time I've ever heard anything about not doing laundry on New Year's Day.
I hope you don't also know one about not making bread on Jan 2nd, or I shall be in trouble, as it's the first job on my list today.
