My journey to a debt free life

Happy new year everyone
I made it to work yesterday and had a really nice day,I worked on the surgical day case and we had a full list of 7 patients, there were three of us so I only had two patients to sort out, they were both lovely kids, the girl I looked after was 12 and really chatty and friendly which makes all the difference ,the surgical daycare bit of my ward is where I always used to be based and I really enjoy working on there because it's busy, it can be quite stressful but I do like a bit of pressure
I managed to get home by bus because the sister I was working with let me go a bit early so I was home by 8.30 which was nice
I was shattered though so didn't do anything for New Years, I have started reading one of the books I got for Christmas ,it's called The Night Wood by Dale Bailey, it's a ghost story and so far it's really good,I do like a good ghost story
I did see in the new year and watched the fireworks on the telly, they weren't very good this year though because it was too smokey, someone made a boo boo somewhere last night
This morning me and DD2 got up and took the dog for a long walk down along the river,it was quite muddy because it flooded last week but she enjoyed it,I really enjoyed getting out in the fresh air for a change
I'm now planning on having a quick tidy up then I'm going to do some sewing this afternoon,I had a look at the website where DD2 bought this cross stitch and I really shouldn't have, there are so many lovely designs on there for all sorts of holidays,I managed to escape without buying anything though
I've also done my banking and budgeting for the month and things are looking quite healthy so I'm happy with that, I've also transferred my new Filofax insert into my diary this morning so I've got all my work shifts in until halfway through February, it looks like I have at least 2 Sunday shifts in January and February so that will be good for the finances
My only goals this year are
To make more effort to go riding again,I haven't been for months due to lack of energy and having to use the money for other things so I'm making an effort to ring fence some spending money for myself so I can go at least every other week, it's also been difficult because I like to ride on a Monday when they have a group hack but I've either been working or had to go and do other things,so I'm going to plan my Mondays off to be riding days and try not to arrange anything else on those days
My second goal is to spruce up the house, basically it just needs decorating which is just painting because I only have wall paper in my bedroom,I'm getting rid of that though and having painted walls, it's only on one wall so not much to take off, I painted most of my bedroom furniture with an off white chalk paint a couple of years ago,I just have a chair to pain now,so I'm going to change the colour in there to a pale grey,I want a Scandi look in my room and have lots of ideasOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
Sounds like a lovely idea to change it to pale grey.
I want to go riding, and little one wants to do it as well so that is one of our together targets. It is expensive though so I want to do it when she is over 7 and towards the spring/summer months.
I look forward to reading how you get on. xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x0 -
I'm glad you didn't have to walk home after your shift OBL.
Your long river walk OBL sounds lovely and I'm very jealous because I'm stuck indoors today.
I think your goals sound very achievable. I try not to make mine too ambitious because I know I won't achieve them otherwise.
A scandi look in your room sounds very calming. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

That will be a lovely thing for you both to do, sadly it is an expensive hobby though,I used to pay £15 for an hours ha k which was really cheap but the new place I go to charges £28 for an hour,it's a lovely hours ride though,it's just a shame I can only go a couple of times a month,I'm going to play it by ear though and if I've got extra money it will go more often, on the back of a horse is my happiest placeOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -

So sorry you are stuck at home Hairy,I woke up this morning and knew I just had to get outside and get some fresh air,I was aching when we got back but it was worth it, the dog needed it too as she has had a very relaxed Christmas :rotfl:
I normally make the mistake of planning to do too much and when I don't get it all done I feel bad ,so this year I'm reining it in in the hope I manage some of it at leastOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -

Oh no, I hope your 10 year old recovers soon, there are certainly some nasty bugs going round, the hospital where I work have put out an alert asking people not to go there unless it's absolutely needed because they are full of people with the flu :eek:Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
And relax, the house has been tidied the chickens have been cleaned and I have managed to do a big chunk of my sewing,I've just got to walk the dog again then I'm in for the evening with my PJs on possibly sipping on something alcoholic 😍 I'm working my way through a bottle of Irish cream liqueur,I've got to drink it because it doesn't keep 😂
Tonight me and DD2 are watching Dracula on TV, it's been written by the people who wrote Sherlock which I love,I'm just hoping it won't be so violent I can't look:rotfl:
I also meant to say that I am on Facebook so if anyone would like to befriend me on there just message me and I will tell you what I'm called,I can promise I'm not a mad stalker ax murderer type person who is up to no good, it just occurred to me the other day that some people here might be on there as well :beer:Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
