  • So today's symptom of choice is a sore throat🙄 it hasn't stopped me today though but I'm tired now

We went and got our fresh food today so we are now done with shopping,I came home and had a cup of tea and and a sit down for an hour before wrapping my Christmas presents, every year I say I'm going to do it as I buy them but I've only managed that once,I hate wrapping presents so I end up leaving it until the last minute,I have started to try to make it an occasion over the last few years, so I have mince pies and something sparkly to drink but I can't stomach it this year

I also managed to find a frame in Wilkos for the picture I've been making for my friend,I have to finish it tomorrow :eek: so I hope I'm not ill tomorrow I haven't got much left to do but I lost a day on Thursday so that put me back

Normally I love Christmas but this year has been the worst I have felt, it's weird because I have the money so it's not that,I'm just fed up of rushing around like a loony trying to organise stuff for just one day, it's crazy,I nearly had a melt down today because we went have any Yorkshire puds with our Christmas dinner, my free loading chickens have given up laying at the moment so I haven't got any eggs and I won't buy them so we can't have anything that needs an egg,but then I thought it's not actually the end of the world if we don't have any yorkies 😢😢😀😀 so suck it up buttercup, those chickens deserve a rest

I think falling ill hasn't helped either,I plan ( wing it) so that I can get most things done before I have this week off and this year that hasn't happened so I've been rushing around trying to fit everything in,I did it factor in spending a day in bed and another day to recover but there you go best laid plans and all that

I decided on the bus home today that Christmas from now on is going to be a like a military operation, there will be no more wandering aimlessly round the supermarket because we can't remember what treats we like to buy,I'm putting aside a notebook which is going to be my Christmas planning book,I'm writing down everything we have bought this year and how popular it was so next year we have an idea of what we need to buy ,the main aim of this is to work out which things on the current list are really worth buying and in what amounts and I'm hoping it will stop me panic buying extra food just in case,I'm quite excited to get my notebook started now :j

Snap OBL! I've also decided that next year's Christmas will be planned well in advance.

I've also been ill just before Christmas and manically busy with school and my course. So I've got really behind and stressed about Christmas. I've decided to start buying presents in sales throughout the year, write all my Christmas cards in November, put up the Christmas lights in November and then switch them on on 1st December, write food and present lists well in advance etc, etc. This will free up time in December to relax and enjoy the Christmas build up more and if I'm ill again it won't be such a disaster.

Your Christmas planning notebook sounds like a brilliant idea :T. I think I'll copy it if you don't mind.

Exactly my thinking Hairy, I love the idea of a stress free December and think I would enjoy it more if I could relax a bit in the lead up to the big day and like you say if illness does strike you can rest easy knowing everything's done already, copy away ,it's nice to think I've inspired someone else 😊

  • That's a great idea OBL, another one copying that, thank you.

The sheer panic buying, particularly in the supermarkets gets me... I'm coming to the conclusion that the longer one stays in the supermarket the more the risk that you fall into the panic buying trap.

  • Yay,I finally finished the picture for my friends Christmas present, just in time to give it to her at work tomorrow,I was literally sewing all day but it was worth it in the end,I've framed it and it looks lovely, I hope she likes it

I did do a bit of tidying today as well and DD 2 put the Ikea kitchen together that I've bought for DGS1,vit's really cute and will fit lovely under the ceiling slope at the back of my living room so I won't have to keep moving it to put it away

Ive just got some washing to hang up then I'm off to bed because I've got work tomorrow,I then have Christmas Eve off so I'm going to spend that day relaxing,I still don't feel too great and I'm still living on rice pudding and rich tea biscuits,Ive done a jacket potato to have at work tomorrow and I'm hoping my appetite comes back at some point, I'm not too bad with savoury it's chocolate I can't stand the thought of which is a bit of a worry seeing as it's Christmas in a couple of days:eek:

Tonight was spent watching the new adaptation of A Christmas Carol and the first part was really good,I'm looking forward to tomorrow's,I just hope I get home in time

  • Hi OBL, I hope you are feeling ok now and that the throat is ok.

The NHS is always more over worked at Christmas so let's hope your day was ok today.

Have a lovely Xmas with your grandchildren and family.

I buy Xmas presents through the year. In the back of my spending diary I have a page dedicated to Christmas and jot down what I buy in the months before, works for me.
Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.
