My journey to a debt free life

Yay I've done my Saturday weigh in and I've lost 3lbs this week,I'm really pleased with that as I haven't had to cut down massively just stopped snacking and only eating when I'm actually hungry,I've also walked a fair bit this week
Talking of walking, we still haven't been on the new walk yet because of the weather, we were meant to be trying again today but the weather is a bit changeable, one minute it's sunny then the next there's a shower
I think I might stay at home and do some bits around the house instead, today is the last day of my holiday so that's a bit sad but the bonus is I only go back for tomorrow and then have two days off so that will be niceOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
Went back to work yesterday and actually had a fairly nice day,Sunday's are one of my favourite days to work as its normally a bit more chilled, there's no higher management in to stress people out, it did get busy in the afternoon but not unpleasantly so
I walked home because the buses don't really work well on a Sunday for me anymore
I spent last night finishing reading a book I took out of the library, it was Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty and I couldn't put it down,it's a bit quirky but a really good read with quite an uplifting ending, I needed to finish it because it has to be returned so I'm taking it back tomorrow
This morning I woke up feeling awful and just wanted to stay in bed but I had booked a hack,I did phone and try to cancel it but no one answered the phone so I put my big girl pants on and dragged myself out of bed took some painkillers and went anyway
I'm really glad I went now,I had a really nice chat with the lady that owns the yard about their lovely hanging baskets, they are so colourful, it is such a smart tidy place every time I go which is a good sign, she had just been shopping to stock up the little cafe there and gave me a cake bar to try, it was naughty but very nice.
I'm going to give it a few more weeks and then I'm going to ask if they ever let people get their own horses ready, I take my horse back to his stable and I untack him when we get back so I wondered if they would let me get him ready, it does add to the experience
We had a really nice ride with a lovely little canter thrown in, my horse can be quite plodding but when he gets going he's got a fair turn of speed on him,I did feel guilty today though because I forgot to take a carrot for him and he was looking for it
I'm home now and just having lunch then I have jobs to do,I was going to peg some washing out but it's already rained twice this morning so I'm not sure now, I think I will chance it and just have to run and get it in if it chucks it down, this June certainly isn't as nice as last yearOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
Wow just had the most spectacular thunder storm with massive claps of thunder and fork lightening,I had to go and get the chickens in from the garden though, they were so scared they let me pick them up to put them back in the run, the poor dog is hiding because she doesn't like it
We need to take her out for her evening walk but I'm waiting until I'm sure it's over firstOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -

Day off today and woke up surprisingly early feeling quite energetic,I have a lot to do today but I'm having a quick coffee first
Last night when I got home me and DD had to put the tumble dryer and her chair out for the council to collect, we were wondering how to get them both down the garden steps because they were both awkward to carry and heavy
DD had a nasty experience and fell down the garden steps the day she brought the chair home so was reluctant to repeat that,in the end I stood at the top of the garden and just let it roll down the grass by itself, there is a tree at the bottom to stop it falling off the wall, next it was the tumble dryers turn, we laid that on its front and slid it down the grass then all we had to do was lift it down at the bottom of the garden.......easy peasy.......we were both out there in our pjs having fits of giggles though, god knows what the neighbours thought
When I got up at 8.30 this morning both items had gone and I had an email to say they had been collected, it was very efficient
This morning I had to pop into town for some food so I took the opportunity to take a few bits to the charity shop, so I decluttered four cushions , a pair of knee length boots and a hula hoop
Today I'm on house cleaning duties, we have a shoe cupboard in our front hall which we had to move last night so I'm taking the opportunity to give the hall a good clean before I put it back
The living room needs doing too because DGS was here yesterday and his box of toys is still out plus it needs hoovering ,then the kitchen,I think DD was shattered when DGS went home yesterday because the kitchen was in mess when I got home and I was too tired to do it last night so it will get done today, she did do some washing though and all the ironing so that was nice
Right I must crack on, the weather here today is truely awful with torrential rain so I won't be going out again apart from to walk the dog tonightOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
Phew I can now sit down for five minutes, the front hall has been cleaned to within an inch of its life with flash spray containing bleach, it looks very sparkly and clean out there now
The living room has been tidied polished and hoovered
The kitchen has been cleaned and hoovered
The hall stairs and landing have been hoovered
The spare room as been hoovered
My room had been tidied,I've cleaned out a the drawer in my bedside table so there is only the essentials in there now and that room has been polished and hoovered
I've hoovered the bathroom and will clean it later before I have my shower
DD cleans her own room so I do t need to touch that
I just have to nip out in a minute and clean out the chickens
I was supposed to be cooking a curry for my tea and the next three days but I'm too tired now,so I'm making something else to take to work tomorrow and I'm just going to have an egg on toast for tea, I'm not very hungry so that will be enough for meOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
Wow you got a lot of cleaning done! Can you come and clean my house now? :rotfl:
It's great to get rid of large clutter and I like your ingenious way of getting it down the steps :rotfl:.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Thats the weekend almost over,I had both days off this week and have spent them reading and sewing,I started reading one of the books I got for my birthday on Friday and I finished it yesterday afternoon, then I spent the rest of the day sewing while listening to several episodes of a podcast, my current favourite is Happier with Gretchen Rubin,I'm listening to it from the beginning so have lots left to listen to, it really cheers me up
I'm trying not to be on the internet so much as I don't think its helping my mental state,I start to look at something and before I know it I've wasted half the day and I'm too tired to do anything else,so I'm making a real effort to do other things
Today I've been out with the dog, done some food shopping started to read another book, been out and did a bit of tidying in the front garden and got lots of sewing done ,I also finally made the curry I was supposed to make last week and did two loads of laundry
I'm now chilling out with a cup of tea and I'm going to resume sewing shortly
Tomorrow I am back at work so won't be able to do anything else then on Tuesday I have DGS, we are hoping to finally get to take him to the zoo, but it depends on the weather, today has been sunshine and showers but warm as well so not too bad really, my garden is looking very greenOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
Can't believe it's the middle of the week again:eek: where did that time go
This week I have worked Monday and today in clinics so I have had quite a nice week, I should have been on a late today but my boss asked me to do a 9 to 5 because someone is off sick, that suited me as it meant I finished at 5pm instead of 8pm:j
I now have two days off
I was supposed to be going riding tomorrow but I haven't felt that good this week so I cancelled it and rebooked it for next Thursday instead ,I'm now having a day at home and I'm planning on actually doing something to my bathroom, the plan is to finally sand the skirting boards and maybe get some paint on them,my levels of procrastination over this bathroom are now reaching ridiculous levels so tomorrow something is getting done
I'm also hoping for a fairly dry ( dare I say sunny) day tomorrow because I want to do my bedding and dry it outside if possible,I've managed to survive up to this point without my tumble dryer and I must say it has been really easy so far, the lack of a dryer has forced me to be a lot more proactive and organised with my laundry so I've got enough room to dry it, it's been such a rainy week and I've managed just fine without the dryer, if I can't get through last week with no dryer and without my heating being on the winter should be easy peasy
I'm enjoying using my Eco egg as well, the only thing I will say is even though I got a scented one it doesn't really smell of anything, my washing smells clean but it doesn't smell of fabric conditioner like it used to, this is taking a bit of getting used to, it is however a good thing because the chemical smell of fabric conditioner sometimes irritated me and now I'm irritation free
The next item on my plastic free hit list is liquid soap,I always buy a bottle for the kitchen sink and the bathroom sink but this week I have swapped them both for bars of soap, I bought a bar of Pears soap for the kitchen at my daughters request because she loves the smell of it,I used to use it when the girls were little mainly because that's what my mum used so our love of Pears has been passed on down the family, sadly when I opened the cardboard box the actual soap was wrapped in plastic, so it's back to the drawing board on that one
The soap in the bathroom is one I bought from our local zero waste shop, it's a sandalwood and patchouli soap and smells gorgeous,I bough it for me to use instead of shower gel but it drys my skin out too much,I'm using it up for hand washing on the sink instead, I'm still looking for a shower gel solution
I'm a bit stuck on this because I have very sensitive skin and at the moment the only wash I can use is the baby wash by Dove, everything else makes me itch really badly, the zero waste store does a shower gel and you just take your own bottle to be refilled but I'm a bit reluctant to try it out in case it irritates my skin, once I've had a reaction to something it can take weeks to calm it down again so I need to give it some careful thoughtOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941
