I can understand being reluctant to try new products when you've had a bad reaction, could the zero waste shop advise on what's least likely to cause a reaction? Otherwise, how about a bar of pure soap for the shower?

They do have a clear glycerine bar of soap I was thinking of trying so I might give that a go,I used to buy an organic handmade soap online but it'd quite pricey and when I cut my hours and redid my budget I stopped buying it, it was £7.50 a bar plus £3 for postage and I can't justify spending that on soap,it's a shame though because it was great on my skin and was totally eco friendly

I might just go with a small bottle and see if I can buy enough to sample it for a few days

You could also think about not using any shampoo/shower gel? I stopped using it about a year ago and my hair and skin are as good as they have ever been. If you google it you will find lots of information. Its not for everyone, I know, but I am a bit of clean freak and have still managed to adjust. Just another option and the good thing is, it costs nothing to try.
  • T3sco do a bar soap in a box. It is natural and fragrance free.

    Hope that helps.

There is no way I would be able to do this,I shower twice a day now because I hate feeling sweaty and dirty,I get really hot and sweaty at work and not using any shower gel just wouldn't cut it,I also wash my hair everyday because I can't stand it if I don't

OBL, we have also stopped buying liquid soap. We are lucky in that there is an independent bath bomb/soap shop in our local town & all the stuff she sources is pretty natural & vegan. I bought a bar for a gift recently. She just sliced it off & popped it in a little paper bag. No plastic. Mr F bought a bar for himself & says it's good stuff. It might be worth keeping an eye out for a similar shop.
I also stock up on soaps from the Norfolk Soap Company when we take our tent off to East Anglia each year. They are wrapped in paper & every fragrance I've tried has been fab. The sea buckthorn one I even used on my face as I like to double cleanse.
    I'm trying a shampoo bar next x

I woke up really early today for some reason but I wasn't feeling great so went back to sleep for another couple of hours, it was blissful😍😍
When I eventually got up I had a lovely leisurely breakfast and read my book for a bit,I couldn't start on the bathroom straight away because DD was still in bed, I took the dog out and pegged out my washing the read my book for a bit longer😀

I did manage to get some work done in the bathroom, so far I've sanded and painted half the skirting boards and the bath panel,I'm going to hopefully get some more done tomorrow,I think if I just do a little bit each day it will eventually get finished

I also got my bedding washed, dried, ironed and back on my bed,I've just got a throw in the machine at the moment but will hang that over the stairs tonight and it should be dry by the morning

I've also hoovered everywhere today as well so the house is looking good

OBL you are always so busy doing stuff , I am in awe of what you achieve in one day. I am with you on the shower stuff , however I only use soap in the shower these days , and would like to try a shampoo bar as well.

    Have a good weekend.
Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.

  • I use soap in the shower and for hand washing, but luckily for me I don't have sensitive skin so I use Shield which is £1.50 for four bars (it does come wrapped in plastic though but I'm prioritising cheapness).
