My journey to a debt free life

Great news on a very cheap tv too :T.
Freezers are a different kettle of fish altogether especially if you have a big family, when I moved into this house I didn't have a fridge for three weeks and it was a nightmare, luckily it was a really cold winter so I left some of my food outside in a plastic box,I wouldn't want to do it again though
I am lucky that I can get away without using my dryer so hopefully it won't be too much of a hardship, time will tell whe the winter comes back and I can't get my towels dry, we only have a minimal amount of towels for the two of us so it might mean buying a couple of extra ones in the winter,we tend to use all the towels then wash them all in one go dry them and put them away to be used again, this won't work without a dryer because they won't all dry in time
I'm sure will will come up with a solution and if I have to buy another couple of bath towels that's cheaper than buying a new dryer and running itOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -

I am really lucky that I don't actually need my dryer, it truely is there as an added bonus because I like fluffy towels, there's only me and DD at home so I don't have mounds and mounds of washing and at some point it will just be me and I definitely won't need a dryer, my uniforms are thin cotton scrubs so they dry overnight on the clothes horse and I have double the amount I need for work so always have plenty of spares and like I say non of my clothes can be tumble dried anyway
A lot of it with me is down to organisation,I need to get into a proper routine of doing regular loads so it doesn't build up and I haven't got enough room to dry itOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
I've had a busy day today,I went shopping this morning for fruit and salad bits then came home and cleaned the house,I've been out and cut the front lawn as well,I probably could have left it a bit longer but they have forecast heavy rain so I wanted to get it done before that happens,I also cleaned the chickens out
My friend and her husband came round and dropped the telly off, it's huge compared to the little one I had beforeOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
Just done all my banking and everyone has been paid,I am a bit worried about my food budget,I'm spending more than I normally would but I haven't bought anything I wouldn't normally buy,I'm just presuming it's the prices going up
I think I might have to increase my weekly budget from £25 to £30, this should cover my food shopping
I've also just realised I haven't updated my signature to take into account the money I haven't used for DD1s birthday on Saturday so I will do that in a minute
I'm also going to measure my floors tomorrow so I can ask the flooring people for a rough quote on how much it might cost to do my downstairs floors,I want to know so I can see how much more I need to save if anything
I forgot to say earlier that my friends husband wouldn't take the money I offered for the tv, he told me to use it to go riding......I'm putting it in the flooring fund tomorrow :jOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
How lovely about the TV! What nice friends you have.
Re: drying things over doors - I do it too but use one of those wire racks that's intended for radiators. That means the damp fabric is held away from the door on one side and so is less likely to make the paint buckle (though the wire can scratch it so maybe bulk out with blue t@ck or similar). It also means space to put a row of hangers for damp shirts to dry. Over bannisters and on door frames are good places too of course.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

They are lovely friends,I'm very lucky to have them
Thanks for the tip about drying things over the door,I didn't even think about it affecting the paint, I've got several wire dryers on my radiators so will have a go with one of those to see how it fits,I never shut my living room door so can hang it on the back and you won't be able to see it
It's chucking it down this morning so I won't pegging anything out today, luckily I got all my washing dried yesterday, I just have to iron it nowOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -

Wow what a change in the weather, storm Miguel is here and it's chucking it down,I'm so glad I cut the grass yesterday and didn't wait, this time last year we were in the middle of a heat wave I think
Me and DD were planning on doing a new dog walk today as a reward for her finishing all her work, there is another wildlife park across the other side of the city that we have never been to, it used to be a landfill site when I was a teenager but they filled it in years ago and now it's a lovely walk, we will have to postpone that until the weather cheers up again
We are going into town instead because DD still hasn't replaced her duvet, it's really warm in her room so she has been sleeping under a double quilt that I used to use in my room, we nearly got rid of it when we decluttered the airing cupboard but I decided to keep it because it's really pretty and I do use it sometimes if I'm too hot in bed
I also have the dreaded ironing mountain to tackle today, I'm not too bothered about doing it today though because I can't do anything outside so it's a good day to do it and for some reason I don't mind ironing when it's wet and miserable outsideOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8942 -
