@Sun_Addict, I'm glad you missed that contact! Hopefully the person will recover quickly but it does go to show we still need to be careful.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Morning all, happy hump day
Yes that was a close shave with the Covid case. I'm in the office tomorrow so feel like I'm going into the lion's den. It does seem pointless when I can do my job just as effectively, if not more so, from home and there is no business need for me to physically be in the office.
Anyway...
Today will be NSD 1/12 for November.
Have been awake since 4.30 (not the cat this time she slept downstairs). I think my body clock is still on British Summer Time as I was struggling to stay awake at 8pm last night. Hopefully I will be awake early tomorrow when I really need to be.
Work wise, I've been thinking for some time about going for a role a grade higher and around £7k a year extra dosh. I haven't actually done much about it apart from see what roles are available and there have been a few recently doing exactly what I do now just at a higher grade. I mentioned it to a colleague and she's mentioned it to someone else and all of a sudden I've been asked to project manage something that will help with my job applications. It actually sounds quite interesting so will find out more first before I commit to anything. Part of me can't be bothered but then another part of me is thinking of the extra money and it would increase my pension because it's salary based. Plus I know I have the capabilities and the job I have right now I can do with my eyes closed.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10 -
The new role sounds like it will be a good progression. Good for you.
We have had a few people in the office come down with Covid in the last couple of weeks. They don't seem to be doing much about it and seem to have their heads in the sand and pretending nothing is happening.
Mind you we know a few people outside of work who have it now as well. The other half's sister has it in the house. It started with the youngest child and is now working its way through the other four kids and the two adults. And a couple of other friends have it as well. Thankfully all of them are well and fighting it off.5 -
Glad you missed the contact with your colleague who had Covid. Numbers are worryingly high now. Sounds interesting with the project you have been asked to manage and £7k is not to be sneezed at plus the consequent increase in pension. I have the utmost admiration for you and how you tackle everything with enthusiasm and seem incredibly self motivated. You'll demonstrate your capabilities with managing the project, and be a shoe-in for the higher grade.
My advice, when you are promoted, is to immediately put all of the salary increase into your pension via AVC (additional voluntary contributions). It's a tax effective way to boost your pension, and by doing it right away you won't miss the dosh. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?6 -

I'm not an expert but have been pointed to that for a different issue and can see from Google that there have been questions raised under it regarding Covid safety.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
