Scottiedog_3 said:@Sun_Addict, when you talk about moving money to different "pots", does each pot mean a different account- or are these imaginary parts of a spreadsheet? Quite worried that the fridge freezer doesn’t seem right. The things in the fridge aren’t that cold. The things in the freezer remain frozen apart from the bread type products. It was making a beeping noise, I pressed a button and it stopped. Annoying if it’s on the blink as I only bought it in January 2019. Appliances used to be guaranteed for 5 years but seems they aren’t anymore. Will have to dig out the paperwork/guarantee in the morning to check. Will be annoyed if I lose all the stuff in there as there are quite a few things.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

I think some house insurance policy’s let you claim for loss of food…it depends on the excess to whether it’s worth it or not, but worth checking if the worst happens. Hopefully it’s just a blip! Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

The Hotpoint fridge freezer we used to have at the old house used to get replaced under warranty every couple of years. They were rubbish but the gap for the fridge was only 55cm so we didn't have a lot of choice.
The big Samsung job we have at home now seems much better made and hasn't given us any trouble so far which is good considering how much the bloody thing cost 😲3 -

Hopefully it’s just a blip! The contents of the freezer are fine it’s the fridge that’s playing up now. It’s beeping and the things in it don’t seem as cold as they usually are. Going to try unplugging it and plugging it back in first. Not sure whether to cut my losses and get a new one before the freezer goes as well. Could get it repaired but might be costly, would I rather put the money towards a new one? Not been keen on this one since I bought it. It’s the last time I buy from Hotpoint, this is the third one of that brand I’ve had in the past 8 years. They used to be really good too.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

Happy hump day
No walk or run this morning as have been faffing about with the fridge freezer and researching a replacement should unplugging it not work. I'm just glad the freezer contents are fine. Annoyed it's only last 2 years and 9 months though. Have sourced a replacement from AO, I can get 8% cashback and they are also doing £25 off large appliances. Of course if I want it delivered before Monday there will be a delivery charge, then add to that the taking away of the old one, it won't be cheap but it is what it is. I've also looked at John Lewis and Argos but AO look to have the best deal.
Didn't have much sleep last night which is very unusual for me but I kept waking up and thinking about the blooming fridge freezer. I'm shattered but it should be a fairly quiet day work-wise thankfully.
My work friend wants to meet up again for lunch when we are both in the office or me to go to her house again. Not sure what to do as her house is an hour's bus ride from the city centre, although it would be nice to take a day off work, have a bit of a potter in town before going to hers.
Cleaning task today is the living room. Making harissa prawn orzo for my dinner tonight. Will finally get to try out the electric grater as it involves grated courgette.
Payday tomorrow 😁I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
I found AO to be the best too. The last time I had a fridge repaired it only lasted 2 minutes so was a total waste of money. If it’s looking dodgy it might be best to bite the bullet rather than risk it failing when it’s full of Christmas goodies in a few months.

The deed is done, new fridge freezer coming tomorrow. Unplugging it didn't work unfortunately. Will probably take AO up on the extended warranty thing, particularly as I don't seem to have much luck with fridge freezers. I have these in place for the washing machine and dishwasher purchased from AO and I've definitely had my money's worth from the washing machine insurance. Had to pay £30 for next day delivery and £25 for the taking away of the old one/set up the new one/take packaging away. At least I got £25 off with the AO code though and a bit of cashback from TCB.
So a very spendy day already!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
I think in your life you need the lower stress options not just the MSE ones.
Don't blame you at all on new fridge freezer, plus delivery/removal services, despite its predecessor's short life.

I’m just thankful I can afford to replace it without worrying where the money is coming from. It’s money I could’ve done without spending but I have enough in my pots to cover it without having to trouble the emergency fund.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6
