Having problems with my washing machine at the moment. The code it keeps showing on the display means it’s the door lock. DH has yooutubed it and thinks he can fix it. Ordered new part. Fingers crossed it works, I’m lost without my washing machine. If not new machine required,  Many of them dont have wash programmes under an hour. My DIL’s machine takes anywhere near to 3 to 4 hours to do a wash.xx

Beko. My washing machine and dishwasher are both Beko. No problems with the dishwasher since I bought it 5 years ago. The washing machine is older and has had a few repairs but it gets some hammering. Unfortunately Hotpoint seem to have gone downhill which is a shame.

I wonder if it makes any difference if you have them seperate.  My fridge is now 30 yrs old & apart from having to replace the internal light it has been fine (Philips) & my freezer is now over 20 years old also Philips.  But to not even last 3 years is quite frankly disgusting.  I have been thinking of replacing them both but just to get something that has a good rating as these are using 3 or 4 times the electricity that a new one uses, especially now with the way energy prices are going.

I think it would be better to have them separate if you have the space. Years ago I had the Hotpoint Iced Diamonds separate fridge and freezer and they lasted for years. The best freezer I ever had was a little Argos own brand one that I used as extra freezer space when DS was at home. It never let me down, I only got rid of it when we had the new kitchen as I had more cupboards so there wasn't the room for it. If I had the room for separate ones I'd have them.

My husband will notbuy any appliance that has 2 jobs i.e. washer drier, fridge freezer etc. He was an electronuice engineer and reckons they are not value for money and when one part goes you lose the whole lot and because there are more workings in frequently a similar space they do not have the quality of seperates. I dont know if he is right I am just putting it forward.

I agree with your husband.  What I didn't say in my post was that my freezer is tucked away in one corner of my living room, which is much better than where it used to be in the box room, which is much better than my old chest freezer which used to be in the detached garage.
