Our local council charges for the garden waste bin and collection.
We don't have much garden waste to warrant the cost of the service. Our grass clippings go in the compost bin with general veg waste, the hedge clippings we take to the tip the couple of times a year it needs trimming and the other odd bits of cuttings get put in our normal waste bin.3 -
Here garden & food waste go in the same bin.
Picked up in the same lorry.
Food pick up free but if you add garden waste or even cut flowers then you have to pay.
It's gone up each year. They check the bins.
You need a permit.
Would have been better just adding it on to the council tax.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. We pay £36 a year for the garden waste bin. Worth it to us as we don’t have a car to take to the tip. It gets shredded by the council then a local farm use it. If you live in city council area it’s free 🤔I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

The garden waste here £50 a year so being stingy we take it to the tip which we pass on our way to Mr. That's after they charge you, I think, £30 for the bin which is registered to the house so if you move you can't take it with you.5

Morning happy Monday. Another hot one ☀️Have been for a run this morning although did more fast walking than running it was so hot. Sat in the garden having breakfast, didn’t want to come back in and start work. Oh well, needs must.
Need to look at finances today. Will be NSD 9/15. Going to aim for a low spend week.Cleaning task is the kitchen.Need to do this week’s meal plan. Tonight’s dinner is butternut squash dhal leftover from Saturday.Don’t feel very motivated today for some reason 🤔I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -
I always think it is harder to motivate yourself to do things when it is hot outside. I feel the same. Just told my DH I cannot be bothered to cook this evening so it is either salad or he needs to cook his own.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. We have matching fit bit white stripes but I have striped feet too where the strap has been across my ankle 😂😂
We don’t pay any extra for our garden rubbish to be collected. It goes in the green bin with the food waste. It went to alternate weeks during lockdown but went back weekly a while ago, although it is intermittent due to staff shortages atm.January spends - £587.584 -
We have 4 bins. The brown (garden & food waste) is collected fortnightly & the others 3 weekly. I got a letter over the weekend from our newish tory MP asking us to complain about the waste collections. Not a cat in h***'s chance. They were the ones who reduced the number of collections, they were the ones who gave planning permission for more houses than this locality can cope with & their gov was the one who reduced their contributions to LAs. I feel like telling him to get his nose out. I didn't notice him asking us to complain last year when some bins weren't collected at all for weeks when it was a tory LA, whereas now I've only waited a day AND been told about it rather than wondering. Can you hear my teeth grinding?
