Happy Friday 🥂🥳☀️No work today 🥳 I have an exciting morning planned, I’m taking the winter throw to the launderette 😆 It’s far too big and heavy for my washing machine so need to use their industrial one. Good weather to get it hung out and dried. Going to take the dog to give her a decent walk before it gets too hot and sit outside Costa with a coffee while I’m waiting for the throw to wash. Will be spending the rest of the day gardening and reading in the sunshine.Mr SA isn’t too happy about getting the next batch of work on the house done. He’s always hated paying out for workmen. If it was left to him we’d be living in a house falling apart at the seams. Fortunately I don’t take any notice, it’s me who’s working to pay for it.
Garden wise most of my plants appear from nowhere and I’ve no idea what most of them are. If they produce nice flowers they stay 😆 I had a random tree suddenly appear in a flower bed last year. I dug it up in the end as it was growing really fast and taking over. I’ve also got a really evil looking thorny plant appear at the bottom of my garden. I’m under the impression it might be a wild rose, I’m waiting to see what it produces before I cut it down. The thorns are huge and bright red, it’s the plant version of Jaws 😆
You’ll never get any good gardening tips from my diary 🤣🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6 -
Sounds a like if it was left to Mr SA it’d be the kind of house I like taking on to make a few quid haha. Bit of profit aside left for someone like me lol imo you’re doing the right thing, nothing beats having a nice place to live - you spend a lot of time home to live in a wreck.5

Meet Jaws 😆 There’s nothing at the bottom of our garden other than steep banks of bushes and sky. Can see all over the city centre and as far as the airport from there it’s that high up.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

That's a rose, and probably a domestic one by the size and glossy finish - I wonder how it got there! Impressive thorns.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

We had a pair of roses at our old house that had similar thorns. They sort of scrambled up the side of the house and grew really tall if we let them. We used to hack them back once a year to keep them a more compact size.
The flowers were not very big compared to some roses either.5 -
Most roses that you buy are grafted on to a root stock of another type of rose. So the ones that grow themselves are not generally a nice flower. We have one where the rootstock itself sends out large shoots that need to be chopped off.
good luck, I hope you are lucky with it6 -

Your sunflower is a lot taller than mine. I’m really disappointed with mine. I had to give them a drink very quickly this morning as they were looking very sorry for themselves. They’ve perked up considerably. Got to admit I don’t have any in my hanging basket though…..jealous 😂😂😂
You didn’t let Mr SA loose in my local town this morning - I was very nearly ploughed over by a scooter…..and immediately thought of you 😏😂😏😂January spends - £587.586 -
Launderette trip done this morning. Old bloke in there no concept of social distancing came right up to me, kept touching me on my arm then patted my back 😱
Jaws has appeared from the banks at the bottom of the garden. There are wild roses on there but they’ve already flowered and died off.
Have spent hours pottering in the garden. Chopped down a dead tree. Filled the garden waste bin to the brim again.Gardening wise, my dad was a good gardener like his dad before him but he worked away a lot, something to do with computers, so we had a gardener. We had a beautiful garden, not a blade of grass out of place. My mum didn’t garden so I wasn’t involved in gardening, I just sat in it painting my nails, listening to music and reading magazines/books. When Mr SA was well I didn’t get involved with the garden much apart from sitting in it painting my nails, listening to music and reading magazines/books. See a pattern emerging there 🤣 Of course now Mr SA is disabled it’s up to me to do most of the gardening. I’m learning as I go along.Gosh it’s been hot today, not complaining though, I love my sunshine ☀️I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7
