I think it’s time the government make a decision to only shield those who need to and let the rest of us get on with our lives. I’m hearing of so many people testing positive with either no symptoms or very few it’s getting ridiculous.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)9

On the exercise front, the 15,000 steps a day target is being hit. Disappointed that the scales haven’t moved, still the same after all my efforts 😩 I’m very good at maintaining that’s for sure 🤣 DS and GF are on a health kick at the moment, quite funny that DS asked for a green tea today, he usually takes one of Mr SA’s beers 🤣 DS is super skinny and definitely doesn’t need to cut down on food, he was looking through my Joe Wicks lean in 15 veggie cook book and drooling over the food. Talking of Joe Wicks, how well deserved was his MBE. Plus Mr Motivator 💕 used to have a few of his workout videos back in the day. He doesn’t look any older 😱I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)9

SA - Himself and I went for a pub lunch yesterday. A rare occurrence in itself. I went to the loo sanitising my hands at all the various points, following the one way system, out one door in another and what did I forget to do.- put on my mask. We’re not alone. Lots of people got up started off and realised they had forgotten the mask came back and put it on. It’s not something we would normally do in this country and it’s understandable that we just forget from time to time. It takes a bit of getting used to.
I worry about how this is affecting mental health as well. I’m finding myself getting more and more anxious about just about everything. I hope you can continue to see your neighbour. It will do both of you the world of good.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
I think it’s because I usually only go to Mr T and I’m used to the routine of mask on, hand sanitiser on and I’m in. I rarely go to cafes and pubs at the moment. As today is lovely and sunny have emptied the laundry basket 🎉 We also took the dog on a park further afield combining it with a stop off at Aldi on the way home.
OMG Mr SA has been an absolute embarrassment today. The park has a garden centre and he managed to plough through some plants reserved for a contract with his scooter and got stuck. The plants were tangled in his wheels, I was trying to save them and all he was bothered about was driving off. Apparently he lost control of the accelerator. Fortunately the plants were miraculously not damaged much. A member of staff witnessed it and it’s a wonder we weren’t charged for damages. It could’ve been worse as the plants were in front of a greenhouse and stopped him ploughing into the glass. It was so embarrassing, he didn’t even apologise just sat there with his usual blank expression 😐 I felt awful not apologising for him but why should I, it wasn’t me who was careless and he’s not my child, just feels like it.On the plus side my steps target is on 14k steps.I could throttle Mr SA right now 😩I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)9 -
Ah no, that must have been awful. I know electric wheelchairs can be difficult to control and I suppose scooters might be the same. I heard of an incident where a wheelchair user with less than 100% control came close to running over someone's foot - and of course it's the weight of the chair plus the weight of the person. I wonder whether the scooter could be modified at all to make it less sensitive to touch (or get a tachograph?!).
Would it be any help to talk to Mr SA about it once the dust settles? I think (hope!) people are a bit wary of 'having a go' at a person with a disability, but really we're all responsible for our conduct to some extent and making excuses for the person doesn't always help the situation. Of course that's going to vary according to the person's abilities, the stresses of the situation, their environment etc (did the garden centre give good access for scooter drivers? Did the lie of the land make it harder to control the vehicle? for instance). As I've probably mentioned before, I work with people with multiple disabilities and it's surprising how often people assume an individual 'can't learn' when actually the person concerned is manipulating a situation to their advantage and had everyone in the family running round after them.
Now I don't know much about acquired brain damage so I can't speak for people in Mr SA's situation, but I wonder if that 'blank look' is a way of avoiding confrontation? You will be the judge of that.So it may be that there are lessons to be learned for both parties, but at the end of the day, accidents happen.

It was entirely his fault Cherry, he drove his scooter up a kerb when I told him not to. He had hung his hat on the brake lever which prevented him from stopping. He gets distracted and this is how he ran me over 4 years ago and trashed my ankle. The plants were in a separate area not meant for public access but he had to go there. His blank expression is part of his brain injury- the neurologist called it Parkinsonism because it’s similar in some ways to Parkinson’s, the same part of the brain is damaged. He doesn’t want to talk about it, says I’m making a mountain out of a molehill. Luckily the plants were quite robust ones and sprang back.
Tomorrow morning I’m going to walk into the city centre to M&S to spend the £12 food voucher before it expires. Also got a free candle on my Sparks card.Looking forward to a nice long soak in the bath shortly, my legs are aching.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)9 -

Enjoy your candle - what a nice little extra. I love their candles, the scented Christmas ones are very hard to chose between.
