Sun_Addict said:Ever make a start on doing a job then wish you'd never bothered? This morning I sprayed the oven with oven cleaner, it said leave on at least 30 minutes so decided to leave it a lot longer with a view to washing it off at lunchtime. OMG the mess 😮 The spray is doing the job but didn't realise how much brown gunky stuff it would produce. Will now be tackling after work. I've got Mr SA doing some jobs around the garden, albeit very slowly.
We just have to give it the odd wipe out during the year but nothing more. We find it money well spent.7 -
I was thinking about that but I really should replace the oven, it's not very old but is absolutely rubbish. Had it repaired countless times while still under guarantee (the fan kept breaking) but it still burns everything even at very low heats. Apparently it's a common problem with the own brand ovens that come with Howden's kitchens. I've been looking at steam ovens and wondering if they're any good and easier to keep clean.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7

Can't comment on the steam ovens have never had one. We currently have an Electrolux double oven that came as standard in the new build we bought. It seems ok and cleaned up like brand new when the chap did it in July. We will get him in again next year to works his magic on it.7

Finally the oven looks super clean 😁 Not sure how long it will stay that way but determined to clean it more often until I get a new one. I don’t know where all the grease comes from I don’t use oil and mainly cook Mr SA’s meat in the slow cooker. DD has gone mad on chicken so it could be her. She gets in from work late and cooks her own meals, always chicken. At the rate she’s going she’ll be sprouting feathers and laying eggs soon 🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7

You’ve reminded me to chase a free oven clean I’d enquired about a few weeks ago......not heard anything from them.January spends - £587.585

Morning all 😎
Another lovely sunny day, sounds like it might be the last summery day, according to the weather forecast autumn will be here with a bang tomorrow. Was up at 5.30, pitch black outside so relaxed with my book and a coffee before going for a walk to get a paper then came back home the long way round to get some steps in and a good hill climb.
Not sounding good for tonight's announcement, looking highly likely I won't be going to my friend's house on Friday as it sounds like we might be banned from visiting other houses. Still having the day off and will just have a wander round town if that's the case. I suppose we could get round it by meeting in a pub, where there will probably be lots of strangers, isn't it daft.
Fly Lady is the living room, hall and stairs so will chip away at that during the course of the day when I get a break.
Mr M shop coming shortly, only parsnips missing, I can live with that. Have seen pictures of crazy people stockpiling loo rolls and pasta again, I really hope it doesn't go back to the queuing outside supermarkets and not being able to get a delivery slot again 😒
Have a terrific Tuesday x

I hope you get to meet your friend, SA. Are you in an area that is looking like they might put in restrictions on households or do you think it's going to be a ban all over? We've been under those restriction up here for a few weeks now. I'm not sure if everyone is sticking to it (there are exemptions regarding "bubbles" and childcare, etc so it's difficult to say) but it's definitely quieter.
I haven't been to a supermarket in over six months as I get most things delivered but I really hope people don't start doing silly things like stockpiling again.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
I'm not in an area with restrictions but apparently Northern Ireland are banning visits to other households and the paper says England are likely to follow suit. Which also means DS and the GKs won't be able to visit us. Part of me isn't comfortable with visiting my friend at her house because she lives in a neighbouring county meaning I'll have to get the bus plus she's invited someone else from work who I don't know (she checked with me first to see if I minded). Although I've been getting deliveries, I've quite enjoyed looking round a real supermarket and was just starting to feel a bit more comfortable with being out and about.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

It’s a nightmare isn’t it. I’d much rather meet my family rather than going to the pub. I think Scotland/ Wales have it right where they don’t count children under a certain age.January spends - £587.588

Understandable. I wouldn't want to go anywhere by public transport if I could possibly avoid it.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7
