Thank you for all the birthday wishes 😍
Now safely back home and we had a fantastic time. Got back yesterday afternoon. The weather was very hot and the sun shone relentlessly from sun rise to sun down. Too hot for Mr SA, he spent a lot of time in the shade or in the room under the air con. The hotel was absolutely spot on, the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. All very clean. Food in the hotel pool bar was superb and very reasonably priced as were the drinks. We got talking to quite a lot of the other guests too. I would definitely return to this hotel.
We didn't get to see much of the resort apart from the beach, shops and restaurants as we were limited to where we could go with Mr SA and his scooter, plus it was too hot to walk about much after 9am when the temperature was already hitting 38 degrees.
Mr SA had a few mishaps, he had to be rescued from the hotel pool one day and the sea another day. He also had to be helped from a restaurant toilet back to the table and then on to his scooter when he was overcome by the heat. At one stage a paramedic on holiday got involved. In fact he had that many different people touching him to help out he'll be very lucky indeed if he doesn't pick up the virus.
Everywhere was very clean and sun beds, tables, etc were well spaced out and being sanitised when you left them. The hotel and resort was very quiet so there was never a problem with social distancing.
The Greeks are so friendly and they just can't help themselves touching and trying to hug you in the restaurants. We left at just the right time as virus numbers had increased on the island and a tougher law came out yesterday making it mandatory to wear a mask everywhere not just in the shops. There had been a lot of incidences of young people partying in another resort and many of them were returning to the UK and testing positive.
It was weird on the plane sitting next to a stranger after social distancing for so long. On the way out I was lucky to sit next to a woman who had tested positive for antibodies and had donated plasma, so I felt pretty safe. I was hoping to get her on the way back but I didn't. East Midlands Airport was great on the way out with the social distancing etc but I'm afraid Zante airport was so busy it wasn't the case on the way back and people were sitting on the chairs with the do not sit here signs on them!
I've started today with a sore throat, tickly cough, a bit of a headache and a runny nose - I actually feel like I've got a cold starting so fingers crossed that's all it is.
I've had a full refund for the Ibiza holiday from Jet2, very pleased with their service.
The house has had a thorough clean today, DD's standards of cleaning and mine are poles apart. Finances have also been done as it was payday on Friday. The dog is pleased to have us back, the cat has been a bit sulky but is coming round slowly.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -

Glad to hear you had a good holiday despite the few mishaps. What is it with our men and causing issues on holiday?!
.
I was just reading about a whole plane of people coming home from Zante having to self isolate after 7 testing positive. Hope you have avoided it all Xx

It’s the young ones going to Laganas unfortunately and spoiling it for the rest of us, apparently quite a few been tested positive been there. The thing is they are going home on the same plane 😩
We usually go to Lanzarote in October but I honestly don’t think it will happen and not sure I want to risk it again this year. Hopefully we’ll be able to go next April.I’m feeling a bit better at the moment, have been drinking plenty of water which has soothed my throat.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6 -

Lovely to hear you had a good holiday and birthday. I think people often get under the weather after a holiday just because of the temperature change and change of pace, fingers crossed it’s just a passing post holiday lurgy. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Morning all 😎A lovely morning here which is good because I’ve got loads of washing on the go.
I’m pretty certain I’ve just got a cold, sniffling and sneezing this morning, headache and sore throat have gone and the cough is just a tickle. It makes you paranoid though.
Sad memories today as it’s 20 years since I lost my lovely mum to a brain tumour 😢I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7
