De lurking SA, I know you have a lot one but wondered why you don't drive? My mum learnt in her late 50s to avoid a particular worry and she could focus on something else. I know also people hate it, but it would give you freedom and I'm sure with your focus and determination you would succeed.

Morning all, happy Thursday 😎
Last day of the working week for me, tomorrow is booked off.
Hi Moneyfordreams - I had driving lessons when I was in my early 30s and even took my driving test, which I failed due to nerves. I regret not re-taking it as I would've probably passed the second time. I wasn't really that bothered as Mr SA drove us wherever we wanted to go and we wouldn't have been able to afford a second car for me and I wasn't particularly interested in driving Mr SA's van. I've often thought about having some refresher lessons and re-taking my test but 90% of the time we manage perfectly well without a car it's just now and again we could do with one. When I see the way some maniacs fly around in their cars it doesn't exactly motivate me to get behind a wheel. Owning a car would be expensive - insurance/maintenance/loan repayments/fuel which would mean we wouldn't be able to afford to go on holiday. Then there's the added expense of having to get Mr SA a second scooter to fit in the boot. Then there would be the stress of trying to stop Mr SA from driving it and also him criticising my driving (because he would).
Have downloaded the Strava app on my phone to map my walks and runs, just for a bit of added motivation really. I only nipped to Mr T Express for a paper but decided to test it and walked back home the long way round.
Enjoy your day folks x

What a horrible event last night SA . I use my car a lot and I am glad my parents pushed me at 17 to learn to drive , it's my lifeline to adventure. I cam completely understand your reasons for not having one though. Have a good day. Sunshine ☀️ for you tomorrow .Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.7

Have checked this green grant for windows and they've changed the guidance so I won't be eligible. You have to be replacing single glazed windows not double. What a shame - so the next step is to get quotes.
Have got separate savings accounts for all my pots now: holidays, home improvements, Christmas and general spending. Have named them all accordingly so I know which is which when I do my online banking.
Went for another work at lunchtime, getting addicted to this Strava mapping 🤣 Will be going for another one after work. I'm trying to get my step count back to pre-Covid levels.
Not heard much more about yesterday's event. All that's being reported is both parents are critical in intensive care. I don't think they've caught the son yet, from comments it sounds like he has learning difficulties and has had mental health issues for some years.

Awful to hear about the event yesterday. Hope the parents pull through and they find the son asap. I remember when Raoul Moat was on the run up here, it’s really unnerving. Be safe XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

I know Beanie and that’s on the proviso that you have other stuff done first like cavity wall insulation which we’ve already looked into and can’t have as our house is too old 😩
Went for the third walk and pleased to report I’m just slightly under 18k steps. Not too shabby and more like I used to do - and all from just walking around my local area. Was pleased to notice the gin bar at the end of my road was busy. I’m trying to avoid anywhere where they do track and trace though just in case we manage to get away. Should be in Ibiza 2 weeks today and still no idea if it’s going ahead 😩 This year is wearing thin now, I’m so sick of it 😩I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -

Is that not why they have that proviso? Great wonderful initiative on paper - aren't we great! but in practice doesn't cost them an awful lot (I mean I suppose old listed type buildings might need it? or maybe there are houses in other parts of the country that still have single glazing........the odd one turns up on Homes under the Hammer!)
Hope you are doing ok SA XXXX
Nevertheless she persisted.7 -
About wall insulation. I had our house in Canada insulated and it was 100 years old. They drilled holes outside and blew in rock wool. Why can't it be done where you are?7
