The presents were belated Christmas ones from people I work with. A litre bottle of gin, a gin gift set and some Maltesers :) Plus a couple of books from the colleague I swap books with. Oh and my £20 vouchers, they were for something I did a while ago now, just taken ages to come through.

He said I can work from home for the rest of the week if my leg's not strong enough. I'm desperate to get out of the house though and was particularly looking forward to finishing early on Friday and nipping to M&S. I'll see how I go.

I've booked my taxi for tomorrow as it clashes with school run time and sometimes you can't get one if you leave it to last minute. Have paid a set fare up front for it as it was working out cheaper at £11. I've been paying between £13-15 so this is a saving. Hoping to come back on the bus and this will be an indication of how my leg will fare.

Never been so excited to go to hospital :rotfl:

Forgot to say a charity bag came through the door this morning so have popped some bits in there. Just got to remember to put it out in the drive before 7am Wednesday now. Thinking of contacting the local CS for the weights and some other stuff in the spare room as they collect.

Anyone know if charity shops accept coat hangers as I've got a bag full?

Regarding coat hangers, honestly it depends which isn't a helpful response. I saw a boxful outside the Shelter shop last week offering them free to anyone who wanted them, but before Christmas both AgeUK and Cancer Research shops both had signs saying they needed them.
If you are calling them about the weights then perhaps better to ask them.

Thanks Joey, the local charity shop in question is Age UK. We only have 2 charity shops on our local high street, which is pretty unusual, the other one belongs to a local church. Our local high street mainly consists of beauty salons, hairdressers and cafes. The one thing we need is a vets but no one takes up on it.

Not a happy bunny :( The plaster cast is off but has been replaced by a walking boot cast for another 6 weeks :( The bone is healing well but not fully healed yet. I would've been better off having the op at least it would be all healed by now. On the plus side I can bear weight on it now and I can take the boot off to have a shower/bath and to sleep in. I have to go back next Tuesday for another X-ray and provided the bone is still healing well I will be able to gradually wean my leg from the boot.

However, I did manage to come home on the bus. It was a long slog walking from the bus stop to my house, took forever and my legs ached afterward. So there is no way I can physically go back to work just yet, it's quite a long walk from the bus stop to where I work, it would just be too much for me. Maybe after a week walking in the boot, building it up gradually, and the ok from the hospital, I can go back next Wednesday.

So not the outcome I was hoping for.

I think I was expecting too much. When I broke my ankle I had surgery to repair it so after 6 weeks I was able to start getting back to normal. This time it's healing on it's own.

Took the boot off to have a bath and I was shocked how swollen my leg is. The skin is so dry too, put loads of moisturiser on it. It was a right faff to get the boot off and then back on again, bloomin Velcro strips all over.

The nurse who first collected me today was really off with me because I was sort of walking on my old cast. She said quite sharply how long have you been walking on it. I said just today with fingers crossed behind my back. I said to her it's coming off today so what's the problem. There was no need for that attitude and that's the second nurse that's been like that with me. I had to complain about the triage nurse in A&E the day I was hit by the car - the one who left me to struggle on a broken leg, bleeding head and in a state of shock with a heavy door that kept closing back on me while she typed her notes up and ignored me. Everyone else has been lovely.

Work have been fine about it and I can still work from home until it's right.

    So I'm a bit down tonight :(
