Afternoon all, happy Sunday
Well I don't know if I've done the right thing, but after much nagging by several people, including taxi drivers, I've spoken to an accident claim line. Not sure if it can go any further as I don't have a car reg but there is a CCTV camera right by where I was hit so it will be recorded. I know if there's anything to claim I'll have to pay a fee but I'd rather them do the faffing to be honest. I'm pretty certain the driver hasn't reported it. Anyway the ball is rolling now and a solicitor will be ringing me tomorrow to go into more detail.
Finances done and there has been a small overspend for the last 4 week period of £25, not bad to say it was Christmas and I've been held hostage by having to do all my shopping online rather than shop around for it. I've taken this out of the money I had set aside for the EF. Still pleased to report another £15 has winged its way to the EF though and it now stands at £3415 just £85 short of my target of £3500 by the end of January with plenty of time still to achieve it.
VSP now stands at £31.47.
Looking at my other goals, progress so far:
1. Get back on my feet - still another 2 weeks and 2 days before the cast is removed.
2. Emergency fund £3415 - on target to hit £3500 by end of month.
3. Start counting WW points on app - started off ok but kept forgetting towards the end of the week so must do better this week.
4. Book in 2 catch ups with friends for February - to do when the cast is off.
5. Do 30 day exercise challenge - not done for the last 3 days as have felt rough with cough/cold, will be back on track from today onwards.
6. Stick to budgets - as mentioned above £25 over for the last budget period but tomorrow it all starts afresh.
7. Use recipe books and try at least one new recipe a week - done. Have tried two new recipes this week - Deliciously Ella veggie lasagne and today I'm making roast veg and chickpea stew also from the Deliciously Ella app.
8. Carry on decluttering - not done anything this weekend but will recommence tomorrow. Finished decluttering my chest of drawers in the bedroom though.
Mr SA is driving me nuts today, constantly having to remind him to take the rubbish/recycling out. He's also had me faffing about with glue dots which are so bloomin' fiddly - sticking daft things on his scooter.

You’ve reminded me I was going to try a new recipe a week from my enormous pile of cookery books
thanks.
It can’t do any harm seeing if you can get some recompense for your injuries. Fingers crossed for you- you deserve some good luck.
All your targets are sounding good.
Don’t work too hard next week.January spends - £587.580 -
I still can't believe the driver didn't contact the police,I sure you have to notify them if you knock someone over and it results in an injury even if it's not your fault
Edited to add,I googled it and apparently you have to notify the police within 24 hours if you have a car accident especially if someone was injuredOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8940 -
Yes it's 24 hours OBL - she won't have done it and I was too much in shock to even think about it. She's been lucky to get away with it.
That's Monday done
Done my first day back at work, albeit virtually. Been told not to do too much. I've just been going through my emails and bringing myself up to speed on what's been going on while I've been absent.
Mr SA still not well, he's been asleep most of the day although he's managed to take the dog out twice and nip out for a paper and some bread.
Weather is dire today, not missing much by being stuck inside.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
I hope you manage to claim something SA , have you checked with the police whether the driver contacted the police ? I guess they would have been in contact if she had but knowing how understaffed the police are might be worth checking. Did you report it yourself ?
Glad to hear you had a good virtual workday.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.0 -
Please listen to your boss and don’t be tempted to do too much.
Hopefully Mr S will begin to feel better soon and give you some peace.January spends - £587.580 -
That's Tuesday done
What a depressing dreary day, not helped by the fact Mr SA has been moping around like a wet weekend in BognorHe's been asleep most of the day apart from taking the dog out. It's still his tummy bug although not as bad as last week.
Mr S big shop came today, a few bits missing but not the end of the world. Some of their stuff is cheaper than Mr M even with the staff discount plus there's a lot more choice. Delivery was just 50p. Will mix and match my online shops in future.
Bought the Miguel Barclay £1 meat free meals kindle version from Amazon today for 99p. Been hanging my nose over this since it came out but I often find the veggie cook books are too full of egg recipes (I hate eggs) so I tend to go for vegan ones. I bought his vegan one a couple of months ago. For 99p it's brilliant and goes back up to £8 tomorrow. I've got a kindle app on my iPad. 50p for delivery is great.

50p delivery is really good. Got to make life a lot easier atm.
The weather is so rubbish- grey ,wet and windy. I keep telling myself it’s better than ice and snow.
Your meat-free recipes sound like a bargain. EnjoyJanuary spends - £587.580 -

Thanks for the tip - I've just downloaded the free sample so I can have a quick look and make a decision. I've not tried any of his books but I'm always up for recipe books and snapped up the Bosh Christmas one when it came up on Kindle daily deals.I only wish I had checked the deals earlier as there wasn't time to tip off a friend who might have bought it too.
Are you at work tomorrow too?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
