  • The beauty market is obviously a growing market though. I live in a semi rural village (population 4000ish) we have at least 5 beauty salons and 2 more are about to open and we have about 7 hairdressers too. I do feel sorry for those down south and expensive prices my hair is about £60 for a cut and colour and gel nails are £17.50 xx

I have just realised how much money my job saves me - a fortune! I'm not allowed false nails or polish. :D

I also have long hair which I cut myself.

    So why aren't I a millionaire?

As I pay for sports massage and oestopath..... that’s the thing with our disability people think we get treatment on the NHS when in fact it stops at 18 and if we want to stay mobile we have to pay for it privately. Not only that it’s rather painful and not a pleasure :eek:

    Sorry SA we digress

One of the lovely memories of my Mum is her mug of coffee, her cigarette sitting in an ashtray, while sitting painting her finger nails.

If I did mine I would have a perfect right hand, and a left hand with more paint on my fingers than nails due to not having the dexterity in my right hand :rotfl:

Yep me too, I am also wondering why I am not a millionaire!!

No unicorn pony tail. :) I brush it smooth, look in the mirror, pull it straight and take a bit off the end, then try to match it on the other side! Then I pull a bit from one side to the other to check it's level - takes two minutes but I have had a lot of practice! Every now and then I give it a 'proper' cut not just a trim as it benefits from this, and the 'proper' cut takes longer and is a bit more risky, but I've never had it go far wrong - which has happened when I let a hairdresser near it.

    Morning all :)

Well that subject got a discussion going :)

Just done finances, still chipping away at the cc to get it clear by the end of the month but still £321.58 to clear, I'm quite shocked it's built up to this amount but it's all the little spends adding up when I hadn't budgeted for them. This doesn't include the holiday balance still £389.59 to pay but this is all in hand and in budget thankfully.

    Scores on the doors:
    Tesco card to pay £321.58
    Holiday to pay £389.59

VSP £404.38 - hit my target of £400 by the end of July
    Monthly Saver £500
    Emergency Fund £3300

Going to try for a super frugal week this coming week, although have got after work drinks on Friday, only Spoons though.

    Have a great day :)

Quite a productive day so far. Lots of carrots in the Lidl box so have made carrot and ginger soup for work lunches, recipe from the deliciously Ella app plus carrot and red lentil fritters from the same app, tested one and they are yummy as is the soup :D

Have had a bit of an ordeal phoning Virgin Media but all's well that ends well and they've reduced my bill from £75 to £51.99 with the first month at £31.99 :money: The first chap I spoke to was extremely unhelpful so I said I was going to switch to Sky and they put me through to Customer Retention. Anyway happy with the new deal :T

Still doing my meal plan for next week but almost there:

    Tonight: salmon, stuffed pepper
Monday: red lentil fritters, sweet potato wedges, salad
    Tuesday: stir fry
Wednesday: spicy black bean burger (trying a new WW recipe, subject to Mr M having black beans in stock online, might have to have a plan B)
Not sure about Thursday and Friday yet, probably just grab something out of the freezer.

    The week ahead:
Monday and Tuesday normal work days, Wednesday work from home, Thursday interview , Friday meet old team for drinks after work

Off to catch up with diaries, have a great week folks :)

Can you believe it, after buying 2 huge punnets of strawberries yesterday for 70p each from Lidl, one was for the GKs but they didn't come, so I've been eating strawberries every 5 minutes and putting them in my G+T to use them up - DD has just walked in with a massive box of strawberries from work. Looks like it's going to be a strawberry and carrot week :)

Also NSD today, first in a while :)
