Happy Monday folks

Can't believe my long weekend is almost over
I've done nothing productive, just seem to have spend 4 days cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing, walking the dog and food shopping. Didn't even get the trip into town with Mr SA done, should've done this on Friday with hindsight as I was waiting for Monday and then I got a text from Royal Mail saying they were delivering a parcel today between 9am and 1pm. So that was that. On the plus side the 'other spends' pot is still intact.
So yesterday I had a Mr M shop brought forward from Wednesday as I had an extra points offer if I shopped by Sunday. Then I had my usual Aldi trip so it was a bit of a shopping frenzy yesterday, pity nothing exciting bought.
I've done a stocktake of my freezer again and it's full to bursting so must meal plan bearing in mind what I've got in. There's no room at all for anything else in there.
Meal plan for the week:
Tonight - butternut squash and red pepper risotto made with pearl barley instead of rice. Making two portions, one for tomorrow.
Tuesday - the other half of the risotto from yesterday.
Wednesday - tuna steak with stuffed red pepper
Thursday - veg chilli with sweet potato wedges
Friday - Mediterranean cod - just have to buy veg for this
Saturday - aubergine and tomato curry (from freezer)
Soup for work lunches is spicy carrot, swede, leek and tomato.
It's that time of year when all the new bill payment letters start coming in and everything goes up, starting with the cat's vet plan today, gone up to £12.50 from £9.99, only £2.51 but once the others start coming in it all adds up
Ages ago I said I wanted to book to see Benidorm at the theatre but never got round to it. I've had a look today and there are still a few seats left and I'm thinking about the Wednesday matinee. I thought we could go to see it and have lunch first, make an afternoon of it. Not mentioned it to Mr SA yet, I need to look in my work calendar tomorrow to make sure I've got nothing already pencilled in. Mind you part of me is tempted to go alone!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
I'd be tempted to go to Benidorm alone in case Mr SA doesn't want to go .
I think you got a lot done at the weekend, presumably all of that cooking, cleaning, washing and shopping needed to be done :T.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I've come across a few eejits like that old bloke that just let their dogs run about off lead without any consideration for anyone.
It not the dog at end of the day, it's the eejit owner who has no control over the dog as they've quite likely not bothered to properly train the dog...
There is a family in my street has a huge husky... they have absolutely no idea what they are doing with the dog and it pulls them about wherever it wants to go... it is a beautiful dog but totally untrained... poor thing.
Glad that you're ok and definitely report to the warden.BUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron
It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

I’m for letting the dog warden know too. That dog could do some serious damage if it ploughs into an older person. Must have been scary in case you went over on your ankle.
Hope you get to see Benidorm.January spends - £587.580 -
Thanks folks.
Mr SA will enjoy Benidorm. He moaned when I booked the panto a couple of years ago then enjoyed it. So provided my work calendar is clear I'll book it tomorrow. I'm going to keep it as a surprise until the day we go.
Unbelievably the fan oven element has blown again
Thankfully still under guarantee. I think this is the third or fourth time now I've had them out to it in under 2 years. If I'd known how rubbish this oven was I'd have spent a bit more on a better one when I had the kitchen done. When they come out to it they always say I should clean the oven by running the grill on high every so often. I've never had to do this before but then I've always had a double oven. I had single this time as I never used the second oven until the main one packed up.
The grill and hob are still working thankfully and I've got the Breville halo for roasting my veg for the risotto. Still a pain though.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
That is a nuisance about the oven SA. What make is it and how much was it just for interest? We're thinking we may need to replace our oven soon
.
Definitely book the Benidorm tickets then, it will be nice for you to have something to look forward to

It came with the Howdens kitchen HH, Lamona their own make. My last one was Diplomat which lasted for 17 years with no problems. My advice is buy the best you can afford even if it means waiting a bit longer. Might be worth googling Good Housekeeping Institute as they test lots of things and review.
Talking about things to look forward to - 7 weeks tomorrow we go to Lanzarote :j
Need to get back on plan WW and exercise wise to lose that 5lbs.
I thought I'd done the holiday insurance, usually book it at the same time as the holiday, turns out I hadn't  Anyway all done now and really pleased we got good cover for just £17.59 for both of us for the week. And that is declaring Mr SA's brain injury, physical disability and lymphoma. Although as he hasn't had any treatment for lymphoma for over 5 years he's classed as cured.
Hoping for some positive news about work friend tomorrow, hardly dare ask, fingers crossed she's doing ok.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
