Just to say that young children don't always know that they are not well. I went quite deaf at 3 & never realised. It was assumed by 7 that I was backward even though I could read at 3 & by 7 had read everything in the junior library. But I didn't like sitting near the front of class so most of the time I had no idea what was going on. Luckily at 7 I had a great teacher who got it. But that is not what this is about. It is about the fact that I had earache for a few years & didn't even realise because it was my normal life, it just was if you see what I mean. My friend's grandson also had earache but from birth, he never complained because it just was & he couldn't hear well either & they thought he was backward, an op later & he is (although they will never admit it) brighter than his older brother. Thank goodness for the NHS.

Oh no what a shock for your DS and you especially as DIL is presumably young with small children. Morning all, happy Christmas Eve Eve 🎄
WFH today but it will only be a short one, got too much to do at home - I still haven't wrapped any presents! I have the hairdressers this afternoon too.
I'm going to have to go shopping yet again today! I don't think the cat food will last until the shops reopen and Mr SA has used up all the painkillers, he's a devil for putting empty boxes back in the cupboard so you think you have some in then find out you haven't. I'm waiting for it to get light then will nip out.
Hopefully DIL will be coming out of hospital at some stage today. She might have to have a shunt fitted like Mr SA has to drain the fluid as it's a condition she's going to have to live with. I think DS said it was called Idiopathic Intercranial Hypertension. She's 32.
DS said they'll probably still come here tomorrow although DIL may have to stay home.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
I've been to Mr T hopefully I won't need to buy anything else other than a paper tomorrow. It doesn't help that Mr SA is suddenly springing random things on me he's run out of/about to run out of. Mr T was busier than normal but not too bad.
On the money front I've paid off the CC in full, just 3 things pending on there now, I've sent some oddments to the 2023 Christmas pot, now £58.17and sent some money to the holiday pot. I've now got enough in the holiday pot to pay the remainder of the balance when it's due in February and I've saved a good portion towards the spending money.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3 -
It must have come as a massive shock to you all. I expect if dil comes home today she’ll be pleased of a bit of peace whilst the children are at your house….you must all be getting your heads around it.January spends - £587.583

Sounds like you're doing well on the saving front. I've been putting our holiday money in a pot to pay balance as well. Need to check everything and make sure we are still on track with everything.Making the debt go down and savings go up

I hope that DILs hospital trip means that she can enjoy Christmas without feeling sick. Thank goodness it was spotted and will be dealt with. Life changing is a big one (gulp) but your son will be relieved that it isn't what he thought.
The putting empty packets back must be a man thing - the House Troll does it too. Either that or he tells me that he's about to use the last of something the day after the shopping has been delivered even though I ask him several times if he needs anything and remind him that he has to have at least a weeks worth of what he needs because that's how long it is until the next shop.4 -
Definitely a man thing. I think I have finally trained my DS to leave empty packets on the worktop, I mean they are never going to find their way into a bin. He was better at this stuff when he was 8.
