  • SA I think my bill will be humongous, my heating has been on 12 hours a day for over a week now, I am lucky to have money to cover it, lord knows what people on low incomes are doing.
I am getting curtains for all my windows , I only have blinds and this is the first time I have felt cold in this flat .
    Traybake sounds good .
I'm just using my heating and worrying about it later 😟 I know I won't be able to afford the bill eventually but I'm damned if I'm freezing while greedy politicians and energy bosses take in loads of money
I am doing this too OneBrokenlady. Sod it. I am not being cold. I have been in debt before and will get out of it again.
    Nevertheless she persisted.

You're doing well with those NSDs.

I need to take a leaf out of your book and make orderly lists of what's still to get/do. I have an extra day off tomorrow which means most of the run up to Christmas is now mine to play with, or, if I'm honest, get down to jobs with. Hence lists.

    Enjoy your film!

Happy Sunday, this time next week it will be Christmas Day 🎄😱

Am I ready, do I feel Christmassy - nope!
Ditto.  I am trying to summon up the will to put up our tree.  5 hours after deciding I really must I am still finding other things to do to avoid.  Don't get me wrong I only have DSs am**** voucher to get, which will have to be a home printed one as I can't trust the post & my special food list is all done because it is roughly repeated every year.  I've even posted the cards I need to post.  But those are just the chores.  Putting up the tree is a whole different thing & despite the snow I am not feeling it.  I've noticed too that even neighbours who normally have decs all over the place haven't done anything either.  It is fairly normal for me but not for some others.  Especially the ones with young children.  Worrying!

There's not much a Christmassy vibe here either @badmemory and I put the tree up last weekend as I felt guilty as my son complained about that and his lack of chocolate advent calendar - oops!

We will be away for 2 weeks from Christmas Eve - the relief of not having to put up decorations, tree, door wreath etc etc is palpable.  Christmas Eve - sausages and mash (we always have that on Xmas Eve anyway...), Christmas Day - underdone lamb steaks (with nobody moaning about it).  Boxing Day - Chilli Pasta Bake.  Christmas Day #2 - Jacket spuds and cold meats....  My idea of heaven... if only I believed in it!

  • I hope you feel more Christmassy soon although a lot of people are not feeling it this year.  There are only a few of us with outside lights up which I guess may be something to do with energy costs.

My granddaughters came over today and we made a gingerbread and chocolate cottage which was quite Christmassy.  We will be decorating it tomorrow with sweets.  Baking with them is such fun as they get excited over really little things like beating eggs or rolling out dough then I taught the older one to play Jingle Bells on the piano.

I also watched A Christmas Carol this afternoon rather than the football but the animated movie with Jim Carrey.   I was quite sorry France didn't win. At least Mr SA  is happy though.
