I've just found out why it's so cold in the house. I felt the radiators and they didn't feel very warm at all so I looked at the boiler and someone had turned the dial right down so they were barely on! Mr SA is a devil for fiddling with the water temperature so when you go to have a shower it's almost cold so I bet he turned down the radiator dial by mistake. I wish he'd stop messing with things he knows nothing about. It's already much warmer in the house and now at the target temperature of 18 not the 15.9 it was yesterday.

Do you think he might have heard someone on TV or online mention turning the boiler dial down to save money, @Sun_Addict? It's a suggestion I seem to read umpteen times a week on my phone or via Youtube. We've already done it, but to the recommended temperature, not down to freezy-radiator-level. At least you spotted it.

Possibly but I still think it’s to do with him being obsessed with the water temperature in the shower. He keeps saying it’s scalding hot but it isn’t and DD agrees with me. By the looks of the gas bill he’s not saved us any money 😆

Ended up doing over an hour extra at work because just as I was about to log off a really urgent commission from on high came through that needed an immediate response. So I had a mad scramble to find out who could deal with the request. Anyway it was left in the capable hands of someone higher up the chain than me to deal with so I could finally log off knowing my bit had been done. Good job I was WFH.

As if that wasn’t manic enough the vet rang exactly the same time as Mr M knocked on the door with the delivery and I had to motivate Mr SA to answer the door. The dog was barking like crazy, I couldn’t hear what the vet was saying and I had to tell the delivery driver I wanted to return the subbed beer. Absolute chaos 😩 All the vet wanted was payment details for the dog’s prescription they send to Animed. I need to ring them back with the order number as I haven’t put it through yet.

Its always the way that the door goes as the phone rings and the dog does something it shouldnt. I feel your pain.  Just as bad when the landline and the mobile ring at the same time.

    Happy Friday 🥳🥂

I worked from the office today but did a shorter day. Gosh it was cold walking to work, I’m sure it was the coldest morning so far.

Took advantage of the work coffee shop Friday offer of a C0st@ coffee and a huge Sicilian lemon cookie for £1 for both. Bargain!! The plan was to eat half the cookie and save the other half for later but it was so nice I ate it all then felt sick for ages afterwards 😆

Picked up a couple of Christmas presents from MnS then stopped off at L*dl on the way home for the 19p veg.

My bags were really heavy and I was struggling walking up the hill when my friend’s (who passed away earlier this year) husband stopped and offered me a lift home. I really felt for him he’s missing her so much and dreading Christmas. It’s hard to find the right words and whatever anyone says wouldn’t make him feel better so I just listened.

I also found out someone from my old team passed away suddenly recently. He was a lovely bloke, so sad.

I asked DD what she wants for Christmas and got the usual “nothing really” response. I’ve already got her some body sprays and socks so will probably just get her some wine. She’s the most difficult to buy for out of everyone.

Having a stir fry for dinner tonight although I’m still full from that cookie!

Some colleagues came to visit from Edinburgh today and said it felt tropical here compared to there 😆

Thankfully I have savings which may well have to take a long time hit with energy prices.  If I am cold I sieze up, if I sieze up it hurts a lot more, so being cold is frankly not an option.  I have reduced the thermostat but not by that much.  Frankly my increased immobility is just not worth it.  I have tried being wrapped up but that makes me immobile in a different way & also ends up counterpreductive.  So I hate the fact that some energy company is going to make a lot of money out of me but it is what it is & we all do what we have to do to survive.
You’ve hit the nail on the head. This is me and my situation described perfectly. I always have to have credit in my energy account each winter as the cold is my nemesis. I’ve been having my electric blanket on my bed almost all the time as I’m in so much pain as it’s damp and cold. Octopus will make a fortune off me this winter!
