Article in the paper today saying people who are currently working from home come the winter will be returning to the office. The reason being that they will have to heat their homes where if they return to office they can switch the heating off at home. So sad that this is the reason.x

It's proving a good year for aubergines here, @Sun_Addict..I grow a smaller variety called 'Hansel' & they are very productive. Tonight I cooked Cheesy aubergine bake from one of the P.O.N books & we both loved it. Mr F has nobbled the leftovers for a work lunch.

Well I certainly won't be doing any work from home this winter.
Our commute costs are the same if I'm in the office or at home. We share a car and work literally round the corner from each other.
We have already noticed a drop in electricity usage with me being back in the office and I suspect the same will be true of the gas this winter as well.3 -
Usual twaddle the media spout; majority of population still running cars with internal combustion engines, petrol / diesel at historic high prices too so I'd say you're right re commuting costs... However, office space is set up to accommodate the goals of individual businesses and their working policies generally and even pre-Covid there was already a shift amongst larger organisations towards a hybrid set up with smaller organisations still largely favouring a traditional set up. Generalising as this was and is industry dependent too and still is the case. Leases on commercial office space are generally not flexible unless we are talking about small serviced offices let on a basis that is similar to an AST, this will have an impact on how businesses are set up potentially for many years. On a similar note... as an employer with some hybrid staff (before it was popular) and some office based staff if they were all in all the time due to their home utility costs I'd have to take possession of one of the smaller offices I let to another business in my building to accommodate them all.7

We were doing hybrid working long before the pandemic. Our new office block was designed to only accommodate a percentage of staff. In theory if everyone decided to come in on the same day those arriving later would be turned away. It's already first come, first served for the best desks and the building is 9 storeys high!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Happy Thursday. This week is flying by to say I'm doing a full week at work, my first full week since June, wasn't sure how I was going to cope 😆
In the office this morning then WFH after lunch.
Stopped off at Lidl on the way home, got a few 60% off bargains, must've gone in just at the right time.
It's a beautiful warm sunny day, quite windy so a perfect drying day.
It will be a 20k plus steps day today, already on 18k. Will probably do some sort of stretching/yoga later, definitely need to fit in more stretching exercises as my legs feel really stiff.
Tonight's dinner is something from the depths of the freezer labelled 'meat free mince for pasta', it's been in there ages so time to use it up, could be interesting 😆 I'm going to turn it into a pasta bake.
Not a lot else to report, pretty boring really, although that's not a bad thing!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -
Don't you just love things in the freezer with comments. Last night we had Spag season??? So at some point in the past I had made spag bol & was not happy with the seasoning as I couldn't get the normal one I used, so left overs were frozen with the note. I also have a diced lamb 260gm???? From when a friend was moving and didn't have room for all his (some very old) freezer contents. He said he thought this was lamb. Personally I don't think so, I think it's beef so at some point we will have it when lamb/beef doesn't matter. Not that much meat goes in our meals anyway. I suspect one day we will have a minted lamb casserole (a favourite) that will turn out to be minted beef. The second one. But I couldn't just let him bin it all. We are talking about 5 kilos of meat altogether.

I’ve just seen the funniest post on a Zante FB group I follow:
“Anyone missing a blonde male, 20’s, he’s on my balcony with a bottle of water and a banana fast asleep”
She’s on the ground floor. He’s going to feel rough when he wakes up 🤣🤣🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7
