I know it will take a long time but you should be able to request an occupational therapist assessment and they can arrange the loan of certain equipment. You may have to go through your GP. I cant remember how my Mum did it but worth an enquiry.

Glad that all was well in the end & that Mr SA is ok.
What a shambles of a service that you had to wait 6 hours for an ambulance.
Glad Mr SA was looked after when he finally got to hosspital.

I second @ladyholly, maybe Occupational Therapists could get him some extra safety aids?

Morning, happy Tuesday. Still shattered but at least I had a good night's sleep. Unfortunately had to get up early as I'd booked a Mr M delivery for 6.30.
Mr M subbed Mr SA's brand of beer for one he's not keen on so have sent it back, nothing else subbed or missing. I suspected the beer would be either missing or subbed as the 2 for £20 offer ended at the weekend and the price has gone back up.
Good idea about the OT, we've had visits in the past but we've had a new bathroom since then and it would be good to get advice on the best aids. That said, he's normally ok getting in and out of the bath to shower, it's just when he decides to shower in the early hours of the morning he falls! It's when he stays up late after I've gone to bed that seems to be the issue. He reckons he's going to go to bed at the same time as me from now on, we shall see. I can't stay up as late as him as I have to get up early for work, I would be exhausted. I've told him he will grind me into the ground one of these days and he'll have no one to look after him.
Trying to get back to some sort of normality today. I need to look at finances, do some cleaning, take the dog for a walk and do my live bums/tums and resistance band classes as normal for Tuesdays.
The washing machine is on as it looks like a nice day today.
WFH today and tomorrow thank goodness so should have some time to regroup.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
So sorry to hear about Mr SA, I'm glad all is ok and you are all back home safely.3

SA glad you're both safely home. I do worry about you; your comment about being ground into the ground is spot on. I know you keep up exercise, see friends and do outside activities but is there anything else you could do to boost yourself? Love Humdinger xx2
-
SA how horrendous for you (both), and I'm in awe of how you manage to do everything you do: carer pretty much full time, work full time, walk a zillion miles, do exercise classes, learn a new language, clean, decorate, garden, socialise... I'm tired just typing it, and I bet I've missed lots off.
I was also going to recommend an assessment for safety aids. There's a bath chair lift that may help.
Is there a day centre where Mr SA can go to do activities, where he's collected and brought back, so when you're WFH he's occupied and not badgering you? Check to see if there's a respite organisation where Mr SA can go so that you can have short breaks: Residential rehabilitation & care - Brain Injury Group
Even if you feel you don't need external help just now, it would be worthwhile knowing what resources are available for when you do.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?1
