I feel your pain. MrWW is very good, but then he’ll suddenly start researching some hobby for ages, then buy all the top end toys (instead of affordable ones) and then be all about that hobby…until he’s on to the next thing. My DH was a great one for sabotaging budgets too and buy tools usually regardless of the account balance. Drove me mad until we allocated personal spends and as our house doesn’t need anything doing now beyond decorating he has to get tools out of his personal spends.
If Mr SA has a graveyard of walking assists can he not use one of those like the frame or a stick? Walking poles are designed for hikers not as a walking aid. I'm sure there will be some funkier walking sticks around, @Sun_Addict. Agree the traditional ones probably do make younger people feel they look a bit elderly. I've seen nicely decorated ones in the past in hippy type shops & also at craft fairs, as stick-makers do sometimes appear at the bigger ones. Atm, I only have arthritis in my hands, but if I develop it elsewhere in the future & need a stick, I have already decided I will buy something flowery & funky so it feels like an accessory rather than a walking aid.
I do think you have the patience of a saint with Mr SA's purchase demands.

I have two flowery sticks that I can use, they are different colours so can be matched to what I am wearing.

One of mine looks like it has a mosaic of many colours running round it. Far too many colours to actually match with anything so does actually go with anything. I also have a black one which is okay & I keep in the car for the whoops I need one moments, but I also have a wooden one which I frankly find a bit depressing & is kept in case I have an emergency need a stick moment.
