Any Broom handles in the cupboards? 😬 could you pick something like that up from flea bay? They strike me as a flash in the pan type of kit for most people. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Just catching up SA...sorry to hear about the job. The kitten’s antics made me smile. DD2’s dog shredded loo roll ...can take ages to clear up!

I think walking poles in Mr SAs hands could be a trip hazard for everyone around him including you. I sometimes use walking poles on steep coastal hills on hikes but I cannot imagine why he would need them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. He’s had walking poles before and broke them. He’s in denial that he’d be better off with a walking stick, drives me nuts. He just gets these madcap ideas in his head and won’t settle until he’s got his latest whim. He seems to think that he’ll suddenly be able to walk if he had some 😬
On the broken things front, my glass worktop saver decided to shatter tonight. I was only wiping the worktops and it slipped and hit the side of the hob. Why do pets suddenly appear when there’s the slightest hint of broken glass, all 3 of them started hovering around 🙄I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -
They do! The hint of anything dangerous and mine all come rubber necking. One of the cats threw a Pyrex plate onto the tiles last week and it shattered in a billion pieces. Everyone came to look and had to be trapped behind various doors. Luckily dog was laid in the crash zone and not only stopped the spread by a good few feet, she stayed in place while we swept under her bum 🤣Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I hope the walking poles are soon forgotten, though I found a single one useful when I hurt my foot.
I'm just popping in to say thank you for the nudge towards Lidl veg boxes, actually. On the strength of your example I treated myself today. There always seem to be some left here, I can't think why as it was amazing value: two large apples, five oranges (I had to throw one away as it was squishy), two bananas, two limes, a large mango, a bag of carrots, a bag of sweet potatoes, a bunch of beetroot, three baking potatoes and a bag of sweet peppers. Absolutely brilliant value for £1.50 - though I was a bit choosy: I didn't think I'd get through the box that was entirely baking potatoes!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Happy Saturday 🥂
The cats have been trying to get me out of bed since 5am. They’ve been fed, had a mad half hour and are now going back to sleep.I need to nip to the local shops for bread, milk and a paper. Nothing else so should be a low spends day groceries wise.I said I’d look into the walking poles for Mr SA. He wants to use them to get around the house and garden. They’ll no doubt end up in the various walking aids graveyard along with his walking frame, rollater and walking sticks🙄 He felt wobbly on his legs yesterday is where this has all stemmed from. I tried the excuse of not being paid until Monday to try and put him off but in typical Mr SA fashion he said put it on the credit card. When he was well he was a nightmare for spending. He’d just buy stuff regardless of whether we could afford it, used to drive me nuts. I’d often work out a budget for the month all looking good then he’d go and blow £200 or so on some new tools he didn’t really need using the excuse that they were for work. I had to keep any savings secret from him because he’d just find something he needed to spend them on. He was self employed so although he earned good money when he was busy he had a lot of times when he earned nothing so it was really hard to budget.Anyway moving on, will need to take the dog out for a couple of walks. I’d also like to give the kitchen a really good clean at some stage this weekend.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7
