Just had a call from my vendors EA. The lady's husband has died, the funeral was last week.

She still wants to go ahead with the sale of her property and move back to be close to her family. Her solicitors have not advised that probate will be required as yet, so obviously everyone is hoping that it won't be necessary, all depends on the terms of the will I suppose.

    So......once again....just a waiting game. Hey ho.

I could be homeless in a few weeks, because one thing is for sure I won't withdraw from my sale. I shall rent if need be, unless DS1 can squeeze me for a while, although the Venezuelans will be encamped until September.

It all depends on how long probate would take.......how long is a piece of string. :rotfl:

From my experience of doing it myself when my father died about six weeks but obviously ot depends on how complicated things are. When DH died I left things to our solicitor as I was in no shape to do it but we had made our house "tenants in common" and made mirror wills a year or so before.

When our house was going to be sold eight years ago we went ahead and found somewhere to rent unofficially as a private arrangement (right across the road which caused great hilarity at the time ). If we had been really stuck we would have put everything in storage and gone into a basic hotel or flat I remember saying to DH there were no suitable properties to rent and if only we knew someone with somewhere to sell who would be willing to let us "camp out" there and then I realised the house across the road had just gone up for sale. DH knew a relative and I convinced him to ask and eventually it worked out despite DH's embarrassment.

Yeah, I'm sure there will be a suitable option. As you say put the lot in storage and find a temporary cheap rental if needs be. Perhaps an air bnb or small simple hotel.

I will read back posts in a minute but my adventure is beginning today, I put a higher offer in and negotiated from there. My offer was accepted, I have secured the house :D and it is off the market. Tomorrow will be all systems go, when I need to contact solicitor, surveyor and estate agent. I will not have long to finish what I need to do to get this house ready for EA photos, so I continued doing that this afternoon. I am so calm and content now

oh my goodness LL, she may very well not need to go to probate and maybe the husband had signed the papers in advance, like some sellers do. Now you are in limbo, what a blow but not insurmountable.

    Kittie......brilliant news, well done. :T:T. That's fantastic.

I am cautiously optimistic. Apparently the funeral was last week. The EA seems to think that no news is good news. She said she thinks the solicitor would have said by now if probate was necessary. I have a feeling it will be alright.

Like you say, a blow but not insurmountable.

Thank you for the good wishes. Needless to say, sleep was not brilliant last night, full moon, hot and whizzing thoughts. I am paying that second visit today and will make a mental note of the flooring in the wet areas, I am taking my dear friends and neighbours. My own family is working and this weekend is already booked out for them. Anyway they are confident in me, I am the one they always turn to

Last night I started that effort to make the room flow better, it is open aspect and I simply moved one chair into the snug, after diamantling and packing something else. This morning I moved 2 more chairs but it was 3 movements and I pulled out the 2 sockets I had pinned to the skirtings, will make those holes good today with filler. It does look a lot better already. At least having to put those extensions on does mean that I will know where in the new house I will want sockets. The garage is getting fuller, good job I pre-packed in there

I am so excited for you both! Good luck with the viewing.

With the hot weather I have not been wanting heavy food so took advantage of the fact to buckle down to the diet. I went to fat club last night and have lost seven pounds in two weeks. I would be more excited about it if they were not the same seven pounds I lost a few months ago and put back on. DD bought me an omelette maker and I had stopped using it so dragged it out of storage and made myself a brunch of bacon and tomato omelette. Tonight will be rump steak, tomatoes and an egg and any snacks will be fruit or yoghurt. I am determined to be healthier when granddaughter arrives in about a month.

    Hugs to all

neighbours loved the house. omg the vendor can talk, she is interesting but it is full on, when all I want to do is quietly look around and ask questions. Full structs survey is booked and the earliest is 4 weeks. I have integrity etc but if anything major cropped up then I would not hesitate to pull out. It is as it is

She still wants me to have this and that and re the good quality stairlift` oh you will keep that won`t you`, I didn`t have a chance to say that it would be one of the first things going out but I will keep it in the garage and eventually sell it

Now a sensitive issue, she said that she will be scattering his ashes among the sweet peas in a raised bed. What the hell, I don`t want his ashes but have not the heart to say that. How in heavens name am I going to deal with that. I am certainly not going to plunge my hands in it for annual planting. If she does do that, then how will I deal with that box of soil?
