I'm not sure if this is the right place to post it, but in one of the topics explaining how to get the cheapest fares, someone reccomended opening a savings account (Smart Saver) with Co-Op to get a Visa Electron card. I did it and received a Link card instead.
I'm sure I read the terms and it was advertised that I'd receive an Electron card, so this is a little waring to anyone that decides to open this account just to get the Electron card. I haven't tried the card yet, but I don't think a Link card is the same as the Electron. If anyone knows a better place for my posting, feel free to move it or copy it somewhere.0 -
I think its the Cashminder Account that you need for a Visa Electron, and not the Smart Saver.
Other banks like HBOS issue Electrons as well.0 -
Couple weeks ago, I rang up Co-op to open a Cashminder account with the express intention of getting the Electron card just in case I want to travel on Ryanair. The guy on the phone told me that the Cashminder account is meant for people who have gone bankrupt. Instead he asked me to open a Current card but request for an Electron card instead of the normal debit card. That's what I did. Haven't had a chance to use the card yet as Ryanair's very cheap offer usually exclude school holidays. :mad:0

may i ask if i use a non EU bank issued Visa Electron card, will i need to pay extra charges? there was a line at the bottom that says "click here if your currency is not in euros" but i dont get to view anything after clicking on that.
i will be using either a OCBC or Citibank Visa Electron card and my currency is in Singapore dollars, thus not euros.Does anyone have any experience regarding this?0 -
Folks
I dunno if you looked at other flights, but booking the 'expensive flights' on Ryniair, is exactly the same!!!!
I priced the 0.01 flights they had taxes included and came to 30Euros.
I priced the 15Euro flights with no taxes and they came to 30Euros return. Same price. Deceitful advertising on another website.
I really cannot understand why Moneysavingexpert.com ALWAYS FALLS FOR Mr O'LEARY's and RYANAIRS TRICKS.

This has been explained several times in other threads.
No the prices are NOT the same. If you book one of the 0.01p flights indluding taxes you pay exactly this + optional luggage and airport check-in (check-in on-line and take had luggage only) + optional credit card charge (get a Visa Electron).
Book one of the 0.01p + taxes you typically pay £ 15 + the optional charges above.
Book a popular route Friday to Sunday you typically pay £ 20 + taxes (15 £) + the optional charges above.
I have traveled myself from Sweden to Bratislava for 10 p return all in as well as going to Stansted several times for £ 7 all in. On the other hand I just paid £ 120 for a return from Sweden to Girona as mentioned in another thread...0 -
I have to fly to Ireland and Back to get my 10 yr old Son and return him if Contact goes a head 5 times a year. I use Ryanair but I do not hold a passport. I use my Drivers Licence as ID but I have been told by Ryanair I cannot use this to Book in On Line. I need A Valid Passport to do so....
Thus if I can Book in on Line it will Save me a few pounds as it costs upto £450 per Contact, also time at the airports etc, Thats flights, petrol, airport Parking etc. And before someone moans about the costs I am disabled and on limited means.
Thus my question is Can I book in On line just using my Drivers Licence and has any one else Done So.
Thanks in advance for any replies....
Also Apologies if Posted on the wrong Forum as I have spent 20 mins or more on the search facility to try and find an answer and ended up back here0 -
No, you need a passport to use online check-in as it asks for passport no. and details.0
