i worked for ann summers and found it rewarding - i then set up my own version party planning! you can make good money from this and its fun!

there are some that do a kit rental program so you dont have to pay upfront costs, just when your earning. you could do it in virtually any product, e.g jewery, baby clothes etc. i agree that it harder to work on a self employed business (rather than for an agent) but actually it does get easier the longer you do it - your reputation spreads, make more clients and are more capable of doing things in a quicker space of time
    Now living within my means!
  • Hi all.

I set up my own party plan business a year ago along the same lines as Ann Summers and Stringfellows but we only sell top named goods for lingerie and toys. Also our range of lingerie is as big if not bigger than out range toys, so the choice is amazing.

Although we do have a up front payment for our Kit you do get it back and also you only pay wholesale prices for your goods so you earn even more.
For every party you hold you also get a free item for you or your kit, lingerie or toys the choice would be entirely yours.

Our prices are also some of the best available which equals more sales.

Our reps also have less outgoings than most as we supply most of what is required.

If anyone would like to know more don't hesitate to get intouch.

    Hi

I've started selling Miglio Jewellery through party plan - the intial set up wasn't bad - £100 and that gets you £250 worth of jewellery plus a start up pack with all the forms etc you need

I used to do Avon, but got fed up having to trapse round the houses so thought this would be better.

So far I'm really impressed with the quality and all the customers really like it.

I'm looking for more ideas on how to book extra parties. At the moment I take along a couple of bottles of wine with post-it notes attached with a future date. If people want to book a party they simply pick up the bottle of wine and write their details on the back of the post-it note - party booked! Does anyone else have any ideas like this, or have you found any particular form of advertising effective/

Do you offer a hostess gift? something like spend over £200 and the hostess gets a free bracelet.
If I have a date in my diary that needs filling quickly, I offer an extra incentive of an extra 10% off one item, or something like that.
Always try and advertise locally at first, put a card in a few newsagents, try the free ads etc.

The hostess gets to pick anything in the catalogue for half price and also 10% of the total party sales to put towards a 2nd item - only requirement is the party must do £100 of sales - never had a problem reaching that target.

It's quite an incentive to host a party as some of the pieces retail between £100 and £400 pounds - so if someone sees something they really like but can't justify the price they can host a party to get it cheaper.

I also play an ice breaker game where I give away a piece of jewellery (tends to be stock from last year, so much cheaper to buy in).
  • Hi all

I'm new to this forum hope you are all well?

I presently sell cosmetics online on a website which I will not mention as not sure if you can on here or not?
I'm thinking of setting up a party plan type network with other people doing party plan.
Well my question is how should I go about it i.e.
Give a starter pack for free then get cost back from no commission for first "x" sales or charge for starter pack up front?
Charge party planner cost of products minus commission or pay it weekly or monthly?
This just a starter any help would be great thanks.

    Hi there,

I gave up my well paid but also stressful job when I had my kids. I missed having money for little treats for myself and holidays were definately out of the question. I needed a job that would give me flexibility to fit in around the kids and my husband so I looked at lots of party plan companies. I took into account the initial outlay, number of reps in my area, the commission and also most importantly the items I would be selling.
I decided to Join Silverline Jewellery which is a family run company selling quality silver jewellery. I love their jewellery so I can be passionate about it. I also find that there is little selling for me to do as it sells itself. There was no outlay and the rate of commission was better than the other companies I had looked at. Because the company is small you don't feel like a small fish in a big pond which means no pushy managers setting targets.
I've been with the company now for 3 years and am now one of 4 managers. I make more money than I ever thought I would and work on average 4 nights a week. We go on at least 2 foreign family holidays a year and I now have money for all my little treats.
It really has been the best thing I have ever done. I love my job!!
If you are thinking about partyplan remember and check what outlays you may have. Some companies don't ask for an initial outlay but you have to contribute to the hostess gifts that are given. This can eat into your commission. Also do you have to buy additional items for your kit as and when new products come out. There are lots of companies out there it's just a case of finding one that's right for you. It always helps if you like the product yourself and consider it to be value for money.

:hello: I'm considering starting 'party planning'. I would be grateful if anyone could let me know their experiences of 'Body shop at home' and 'Virgin Vie at home' specifically.
I am sceptical about this sort of way of making money usually but a friend of mine is starting this kind of work soon and its got me interested...
I would be grateful of any advice/info that anyone may have!:j
    Thanks:T
