    Budget Make Up is great

Hiya, I am looking to set up my business on a party plan basis but seem to be struggling to do so! I sell lingerie & adult toys online but feel that party plan would be a good option too. Any help or ideas for getting it up & running & how to recruit people to work with me would be gratefully received. Cheers, Angie

I thought i would add my bit here I work for stringfellows and they provide quite a good start up for any one that wishes to get into but hasn't got lots of cash .

I did want to tell you thought that i have put up a freewebs page which is very easy to do then added it to the face book page i begun to keep tabs on my slicethepie . I also opened a Bebo page to there were a few ann summers ladies on there so i thought what the hell.

I have had quite a few hits on the freewebs page so far it's only been up a few days to . Social networking is a great way to get parties or even just if they want info . and if they aren't near by you you'll get brownie points for sending them to someone in their area

anyway it's helping me so it might be helpful to you ;););)

I was invited to a pampered chef party but got scared off by the fact it involved COOKING!!!!!!!!.

Hey hon, don't worry about the cooking, it's actually quite fun (using all their gizmos, like the apple corer peeler slicer which is just such a Heath Robinson it has to be seen to be believed)

The other thing about the cooking is that it's very 'cheaty' -I remember croissant dough featuring heavily!! Of course, with Delia's thing going on now, cheating is all the rage.

I've never been a distributor but I held a party once and it was fun, earned about £50 worth of products about 5 years ago and I still use it. The woman who booked me for the party was doing really well and if you like kitchen stuff and food, and quality you'll probably enjoy it as a distributor, but it helps if you have friends with a few quid cos the stuff isn't cheap.

Hi, The "cheating" at cooking factor is great but I still don't think I'd ever go to one, well maybe not until the end when the foods been cooked!
  • Hi

I know with stringfellows you own your kit once certain (and in my opinion easy to achieve) criteria is met. I joined in july 07 and have just recruited my first team.

    Thanks

Hostess benefits differ with each company. With Pampered chef you accumulate points to spend on items etc. With Ann Summers you are given 10% of your parties orders as commission to spend in the catalogue, A free lingerie gift when booking and sale targets are met at the party. A chance to get the whole party order for free when 8 people or more spend. Entry into a diamond ring draw. And chance to get £1000 of Thomas cook vouchers. etc, etc.
Not sure how the rest work though.

All the party plan companies differ as to what commission you get and what the hosts get for holding a party. I sell Usborne books and get basic 24% commission which can rise to 39% on all sales. The hosts get up to 20% in free books and may also get a host offer if Usborne are offering one that month. I also offer my own host gift as well.

To be honest I dont do that many parties as even though Usborne is classed as party plan I prefer to do events and sell directly to schools nurseries and pre schools. I do know lots of organisers that do really well doing parties.

  • Hello to the others determined to save money and to make extra, I have just started working with Utility Warehouse. I like it fine so far, everyone is thinking about their bills so I am getting referrals. I make between £5.00 and £40.00 for every introduction and then I make up to 5% of my customers' bills thereafter, for ever! (Actually, while they are still paying their bills) It isn't a quick fix/easy money kind of deal but I think they are an ethical company. Good customer satisfaction too. I would be happy to discuss this with anyone who wants to. Regards to all from a beginner ....Colette
