Party Plan

Hi All,
I was looking for some advice from people that may do or have worked as a party planner for the Body shop in the past.
I have been offered a starter kit to start doing the parties but haven't yet purchased anything. I was thinking about doing 1 per month alternating them between friends and neighhbours and work collegues. I have looked at the website and you can actually book them on line, so there may be additional parties coming in from this.
Is this a good way of making a little extra and getting some free products? I appreciate that it won't make a huge dent in my debts but as one of the supermarkets say every little helps0 -
i don't have much experience in party planning but your post has reminded me of an episode of Dragons Den where someone was basically saying they will be growing there business through the party planning route. Apparently it's a huge market and something that has kicked off significanlty in US as well and one of the dragons even made an investment. This is the website. http://www.trulymadlybaby.co.uk
Reading the website it says they have 200 party planners so it must be big to be that succesful. I also read somewhere that a lot of Ann Summers revenue comes out as a result of the party planning run by independant planners.
So it does work...but jhow much a planner makes and how succesful they are i do not know.
Just some general information i thought i'd share although it probably won't help you much. Sorry0 -
Any other Thoughts at all?0

HI, i used to to parties for the body shop at home, the product are lovely and they do sell themselves, you would get a fantastic discount and buy in's of product, however, i would like to point out some thing they might not of told you....
you have to earn a set amount each month to earn prizes and buy in, you have to attend monthly meeting find out where these would be based, (as for me this was 1hr plus drive on m25!! each way!!)
i felt i had loads of support from managers etc but at the same time i had pressure to sell,
if your not sure give it a go, buy the kit do the min parties in the set time (you have to do about 6 parties in 3/4 weeks not sure if that has changed) if you get bookings great you will make money,
if you change your mind you can keep the kit, when i done it the kit was worth over £500!!! for a small outlay, if you do go for it, find out before you start what is the min parties you need to do,
Hope that helps0 -
I've merged your post with a previous thread on party planning so you will be able to read through it and get some more ideas

I am an independent distributor for a mlm company. Things to think about:
Targets, are there any, what are they, what happens if you don't meet them?
Products: How wide would the customer base be? Is the product people would use and replace frequently? Is it a product they would buy for themselves or would they buy it to give to other people?
Sales Aids etc eg stationery, brochures, samples - What would you need how much do they cost? Are there any hidden costs such as contributions towards hostess commissions etc that would be paid out of your commission?
Check out the direct selling association website as companies who are members of the dsa have to comply with their code of conduct.
I know of people who have worked for the tbsah who say they have been really busy at xmas etc, I have had tbsah parties and the incentives for hostesses are good. But not sure if the consultant has to pay for any of those out of their commission.

For those of you considering MLM/network marketing or direct selling, there is a UK MLM Directory here, with lots of links to different companies:

Make sure that you check what happens to your kit once you join as some companies retain the rights to the kit and you have to return it when you leave.0

With all party plan companies you have to ask a few questions before you sign up. Is there an initial outlay? what are the minimum standards set for a rep (some companies put your account on hold if you don't do at least one party every two weeks)? what can you achieve above that of your commission? What is the commission and what are the average sales per party for YOUR AREA not just the national average. What is in the start up kit?
Get your queations answered first then take an informed leap. I tried a few and now just do Ann Summers parties, I've done well and even have my first company car on it's way.
Whichever company you choose I wish you all every success.0 -
