    Nipped into Mr T's on the way home from History club to buy a lemon (pancake day next week ) and saw they had a tray of chicken thighs for £1.24p for five large ones .bought a tray and brough them home dipped in flour and egg and coated with dried stuffing and wrapped in foil individually more than enough for me as they are very large ones , to have individually with either a jacket spud or salad 5 meals for the meat content of around 25p a portion do me ,even though I did have to stick them in the freezer they will save me cash in the long run.I did think of freezing individually to use in wraps as I have some (also frozen ) :) but decided a main meal from them ,using as a building block was better than just lunch :) The weight is 750 gms so allowing for discarded skin and bones its still a lb of chicken meat for £1.24p

    well done brilliant use of what may have been binned Definitely a LFHW champion. I bet you will enjoy every spoonful of what is in essence a free meal or four :) I had a bag of y/s parsnips for 49p which I turned into two litres of parsnip and apple soup with the help of two veggie stock cubes from a basic pack and five (past-their-best-and starting-to-get-wrinkly-apples ,a bit like me :))from my fruit bowl.had some at lunchtime and it was delicious at least four servings left for this week's lunches or as a starter for my evening meals.I am just off to DDs for sunday dinner I have made a nice mincemeat tart for pudding to take with me I eat Sunday dinner at their house every week ,and contribute pudding as a rule :)

    No shopping to buy this week, and had cash left over in February so it went into my holiday fund :)

    I haven't posted for a while but I recently had a great bargain and had to share.

    DH and I live in a small village, so going to the nearest big town for supplies invariably means we're out at lunchtime. We used to try out the various cafes etc but this time we nipped into Mr M's as we had a few groceries still to find. At their cafe they had 1/2 chicken with chips & peas for £5. So we each had a half chicken. Gravy comes in a little jug, so before pouring it on we cut off the large chicken breasts and I put them in a plastic food bag (I usually carry a few in my bag for those times I just can't eat all of a meal). So we stuffed ourselves with the remaining chicken (and it was still almost too much for me).

    I cut one chicken breast into slices for a meal the next day. The second chicken breast became a curry (which made 3 portions for the freezer). To be honest I could have stretched things further by setting aside a bit more than just the breasts and being a bit more careful what I made the chicken into.

    I felt well chuffed! I think we'll be eating there again....

    Llama burgers?? :eek::eek::(

    Yes, we go to the exotic meat shop in Borough Market, near London Bridge and buy their burgers - they are lean. Taste like game. Nice with a little mustard and red currant jelly. My favourite are kangaroo burgers. Hubby like crocodile burgers. I'm not so keen on them. Think they were £2.50 for two burgers, when buying four packs).

    Used up many things from the fridge with homemade pizza and salad. Also have planned the next two day - sourcing from the freezer.
    H/made Moussaka and veg for Tuesday
    Curry, samosas and gluten free naan bread for Wednesday.

    Beginning (again) the great freezer stock reduction. OH is away for two weeks from Friday and not much at home to eat before then. So today I am having sausage casserole with some veggies that need using. it is a little short on sausages but I will bulk up with the veg.

    Even DD said the freezer stocks need eating so she will join me in running it down over the next two weeks. We may end up with some interesting concoctions... Watch this space.. :rotfl:

    Planning on a salad for lunch with a variety of cheeses, then will have cauli cheese from freezer with some sausages for my main meal.
    Do I need it or just want it.
