Yesterday I made lamb soup from lamb ribs and left over veg - yummy. Had it for lunch again today. Tonight, I am having homemade shepherd's pie from the freezer.

Lunch - hubby had left-overs soup with a salmon sanwich and cake; I had the same, but no soup.
Dinner - jacket potato, chicken breast and baked beans.

used up some left over curry with a nan bread for lunch, finally ate the 2 faggots I defrosted Monday, with some mashed swede, made an onion gravy and think that may have been the last of the sliced onions I did about a year ago.

    Hi guys
We’re having Jacket potatoes with a splodge of dairylea cheese spread, I bought the family pack instead of triangles and it needs eating I nstead of butter with baked beans for tea. It’s SW tonight so it needs to be quick and we get in late or we’ll give in to the takeaway.
I’ve managed to not do a proper shop for two weeks now,I just topped up with milk, salad and yoghurt. The money I would have spent has gone to the holiday fund so I’m feeling good at the moment.
We’ve still loads of frozen and tinned stuff left but I’m going to shop next week. I don’t want my stocks to run too low with the uncertainties of B. We’re not fussy and will eat what there is but if there are price rises it’s a bit of a buffer.
    Keep well guys

Bought a piece of y.s. cod loin this morning, will have that with broccoli that will need using soon, mash 2 jacket potatoes lurking in the basket to make chips, which I didn`t, with a home made parsley sauce.

SOme overripe bananas … chucked. There is only so many bananas one needs in the freezer 'in case' you want to make banana bread and I already have a lot. And I haven't made the banana bread..

I know what you mean about bananas! :rotfl: I've used up my last one today by making some drop scones with mashed banana in the mix. The texture's a bit denser than normal drop scones but they taste just fine and it makes a change from banana bread. :)

I'm working on the same lines and will be doing an online shop at the beginning of March. It's also a buffer in the event of shortages as well as price rises.

  • Still only spent a smidge under £19.00 this month, most of this week I ave been at DDs as its half term and by the time I get home its usually something light from the fridge or freezer.I am working on getting the freezer a bit lower than it is at the moment so I can defrost it (think iceberg chunk on top shelf :)) so just keeping away from food shopping as much as possible Finally finished of the jar of honey thats been hanging around in the fridge .I also found a packet of cinnamon shreddie type things in the cupboard that I tipped into my big cereal box and mixed up with the cornflakes so another bit of room in the cupboard. Good job I love cinnamon :)
I am actually at home tonight and tomorrow night for dinner so tonight I am having some cod from the freezer with mashed potato and steamed veg, tomorrow night I have found the last of the huge pork chops I bought awhile ago so will have that coated in stuffing with probably some potato wedges and salad.I am out all day in Hertfordshire on Sunday as we are all driving up to celebrate DGS Jacks 19th birthday so we are having a birthday meal out. I am taking him up some HM sausage rolls and tomorrow I will make him a red velvet cake (hopefully) for his birthday Just going to look shortly for a recipe .

All left over cash from my monthly budget will definitely go into the holiday pot

    JackieO xx
  • A few bits and pieces had to be wasted from the fridge this week as everyone in the house went down with a horrible sickness bug that left us with no appetite for the whole week. I've got about 4 pints of milk a couple of days OOD so dinner will be fish pie which will also use some YS leeks and pudding will be a panettone bread and butter pudding which will get rid of what's left of a panettone from christmas that was getting dry. Any milk left will make some extra custard to go with the pudding.

DH used up the last of some YS corned beef in a couple of sandwiches for lunch. I had some YS ham in mine. There's still 4 slices left so that will get used in the the next couple of days.
