Wednesday - the hospital advised she wouldn't survive as she needed to be transported to a larger specialist hospital and have a metal halo fitted (screwed into her head ) the other hospital wouldn't take her due to her heart problems . 14 weeks later she discharged herself from hospital as she had too much to do and a year later removed the collar they said she would wear for the rest of her life
She still would 'forget' to put on her emergency button
she hated it

Good evening everyone,
My Brambling your Mum was determined to prove the medics wrong:D.
The cloud/damp cleared and it turned into a gorgeous afternoon, quite warm as long as you're out the wind which brisk to say the least. I actually popped my shorts on as I was too hot in trousers:eek:.
Annoyingly my balance has become progressively more off as the day's gone on so only sit down gardening jobs were attempted, got a reasonable amount done but nowhere near as much as I would like to have. Thankfully no sign that the "wonky donkey" has escaped and I hoping an early night will sort things out;).
Needless to say I'm not attempting anything that involves hot pots on the stove tonight and dinner is going to be a freezer rake for something I can nuke or bake without too much effort.0 -
Having made the flapjacks... legitimate "sweeties" ... to use up open things in the cupboard, I've run out of the oats, but still have 1/5th of a fat/huge squeezy bottle of golden syrup.
I guess I'll have to make a GS sponge at some point ... although it looks like enough for 3-4 of those - and each one's two portions. It's endless!
Eaten two rounds of egg/cucumber sandwiches so far today + some flapjack, although still got some of that left.
It's swung between muggy and overbearing here today.0 -
Oh I do like a piece of sticky flap jack PN but I can only ever manage a small piece. Not made one for years but used to make them pretty much every week when the boys were at home. My Gran used to make a "syrup loaf" as a teabread which sliced thinly and buttered was lovely. It was a WW2 recipe of flour, pinch of salt, syrup and milk and I have fond memories of helping her make them. Once it got a bit stale it was lovely toasted. I have her recipe and used to bake one fairly often for my late f-i-l.
Dinner ended up being a bit random, a portion of the tuna neapolitan sauce I made a couple of weeks ago mixed a portion of a chick pea/lentil/veg frozen mix with some parmesan on top and a toasted pitta bread. It was much tastier than it might sound:cool::).0 -
sticky flapjack is the best kind, I have a old recipe from a magazine which is about 30 years old, although I very rarely make it just for me anymore
I'm still working as we have system issues following our monthly maintenance unfortunately it's not the system where we had someone sitting in Brighton  we've had to call the service desk in India who have been trying to get hold of someone in the US this is meant to be supported 24/7 :wall: and a five minute critical system call has taken over 2 hours to get a response.
I found time to wrap cod in parma ham and pan fry it and warm up the lentils i made early, it went really well together. I just have to remember how i made the lentil dish as it was a combination of recipes with some tweaks, i do know i added some balsamic vinegar at the end which i must remember
it's still muggy so I'm not looking forward to trying to sleepbut on the positive no work carried out next door today
:T
Right back to work i'll need a gin to up in my tonic when i finishLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
A much fresher morning, breezy but bright
Last night's steak ended up with HM chips + fried eggs, just CBA to even prep a salad
Then later the YS box of chocs flew open and I scoffed one layer:o
Breakfast of porridge
Took opportunity of early rise & cooler day to feed the pots in the back.
Ta Da!! today is first French bean day:j, enough for a meal, not heaps but enough
I've decided to use one of the frozen MFO RMs, liver & mash. Nukeable from frozen, should go well with my beans. I've some wilty carrots so could chuck some of them in steamer with the beans
Lunch, more YS rolls with cheese & HM pickleEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

too hot to eat properly or maybe I am not hungry because I had a cheese omlette for breakfast at 6. I only wanted a small nut salad for lunch but also had a fresh warm demi- baguette with butter and jam for late breakfast, lovely with a cup of french press coffee. I managed a few jobs so have not procrastinated too much. Don`t feel like anything cooked later so will have a bought summer pudding and some hm raspberry yoghurt ice cream and I need to finish some water melon0
