Tipping it down first thing this morning.

I didn't eat anything else yesterday, just the pie/chips. Not eaten yet today. Pretty hungry now :)

Early in the morning I decided to get four burgers and some chopped peppers out of the freezer to defrost, to put into the SC tomorrow. Thought I'd give them an hour or so "fast start" and left them on the worktop to go into the fridge a bit later. But, about 11ish I changed my mind and decided it was cold/nasty enough to cook them today. I did really want to buy a tin of mixed beans to go with those and make a chilli, but I decided to just work with what I've got as it's still food isn't it :)

I'd bought/frozen the burgers some weeks ago, a chance 30% off sticker find in L1dl and I thought "it's all meat isn't it". And had never intended to use them as burgers. I chopped them into quarters and gave them a head start by nuking, especially as they were still part-frozen. I could've rolled them into balls, but didn't as there's no need to... it's all meat, whether they're wedge shaped bits or balls.

Into the pot went: 1/2 red pepper, 1/2 green pepper, 2 onions/chopped, tin of carrots/mashed, 16 burger bits, half a tin of beans from the fridge, 2 tablespoons chilli, tin of butter beans, big splash of water.

I'd bought the peppers cheap and the burgers, so the total pot cost is probably well under £2 (can't remember how much the burgers cost, but they'd have not been pricey ones).

In a bit I'll do some basmati and serve a portion of that.

There are some items I could get from the shops, but I'll most likely not bother. I've got food in and I should be trying to plough my way through what I've got...

    Hello Pattypan & Melissasay.
PN & me got our rain Brambling, I assume it stretched out as far as you, more on the way later they say

The only YS was a 20p toastie loaf in L's, I have HM bread but at 20p for loaf why not? I was going to toast it anyway

I was given a Cos lettuce at volunteering his morning, lovely. I used to grow them years ago but no longer CBA with just me

Lunch was thus cheese & salady sarnie using some of the Cos
Dinner, back to Friday use up of cheesy beans on toast + fried eggs

I've taken a rump steak out to defrost for tomorrow

With marmalade, I'm still working through my HM made a couple of years back, cheated used Mamade tin but it makes nice marmalade, probably too much for one but it keeps, at least mine does & I'm still here

Hi Pattypan and Melissasay  :) I had to look up dan dan noodles, one to try I think :)

Woke up to rain Farway, we had a 3 hour break from 1.30pm and then a down pour in time to drive home  it's meant to rain until breakfast I think :(

No happy Friday dance today as i'm working tomorrow, last month my colleagues were working until midnight as the systems won't come back on line so I'm hoping tomorrow will go to plan and we finish for 7pm

A combination of a unplanned conference call with India, deadlines and the weather meant lunch was on the run today, the last of my HM chicken soup. I caused a couple of raised eyes by snacking on cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas and apricots this afternoon definitely colourful :D

I needed to use the odds and sods from my veggie containers so dinner will be a tomato and vegetable sauce with pasta, I chopped it up last night so just need to start cooking after a cuppa :), it contains a stick of celery, sugar snack peas, half a carrot, pepper, courgette, some sad mushrooms, brocolli stalk, leek and french beans. I fear there will be LOs

    Good evening everyone,
It kept on raining this afternoon so no gardening done, there was loads I could/should have done indoors but hit the cbas and read a book instead!
LO roast veggies/spuds with sausage and egg for dinner, I might open a tin of beans though that will add to the "use ups" in my fridge so might not bother. I'll see if I think there's enough to fill me without them before deciding as I don't want LOs of my LOs:rotfl:

I'm all for reading a good book rather than doing most things on my to do list :D

I'm afraid I have LOs  I changed my mind on dinner, I sweated off my chopped vegetables and added to a sachet of rice and quinoa (I know sachets of rice aren't very :money:) and ate with some white pudding I brought at the farm shop a couple of weeks ago :) quick and tasty and enough veg to be healthy :). LO can be pinged tomorrow around work

Heavy rain now, thanks for sharing PN / Farway you really shouldn't have

    Absolutely:D

I'm still working my way through the remains of a post-family visit, during which random food items see to have multiplied:eek::eek:. Unless I eat some very weird combinations (smoked cheese & rollmops anyone?) it may take some time, though thankfully I've more or less used up the stuff that needed using sooner rather than later, though there is a small lurking pot of unopened sour cream that needs to be used or go soon...... I might make some scones (or might not if the cbas continue:cool:). There is also what were very hard avocados - must check & see how they are doing. Definitely need a meal plan so that's one job for over the weekend anyway.

    Evening all!

Just chilling with a late g&t, after quite a day.

I've spent the last day and a half with a VERY noisy Yr3 class. They were just constant. Never met a class quite as bad. None of them bad kids, just riotous!

But the good news is... I got that job I interviewed for! That'll be 4 weeks work over the summer, which will keep the finances healthy! I'm very pleased. Although I'm going to have to give up a weekend at the end of this month to do a first aid course... Important I know, but a bit irksome.

I was very brave earlier, and phoned my bank to sort out the online security, which had gone tits-up. Naturally ended up speaking with someone who sounded far away, but got the job done.

For tea today, with very little to chose from, I ended up with fried eggs and oven chips. Not the most nutritious, but it filled a hole.
Popped into Aldi on the way home from tutoring and grabbed a roast in the bag chicken to do tomorrow, which'll be nice. Also saw some fresh burgers for a third off, so grabbed them for the freezer, and will get to them probably mid-week onwards. Wanted to get a broccoli, but they looked very past their best, so got a cauliflower instead. I haven't had one of those in yonks!

Have a good weekend all. No particular plans here. I'll go and have a coffee at the garden centre, but otherwise, that's it!
Because it's fun to have money!
