Just back, lovely day out, complete with low flypast, couple of Spitfires & Red Arrows of course, plus the VIPs did use the seafront so although it was cordoned off we could see them, HMQ sitting on the side adjacent to public, I assume does it by habit now

Don't know about secret service, heaving with police, some from Wales even boyo, and some toting huge guns, not something one sees out here in the sticks.

Actually they were helpful & not intimidating at all, quite a friendly atmosphere around on the Common

I did see everything, cheated slightly, wearing my veteran's badge, plus the walking stick I was up on a raised dais above the heads of the others, and a seat provided.:j

Had a cup of coffee & a choc chip muffin mid morning before the event started.
The funfair was blocked off because the helicopters were landing on the adjacent field, so lunchtime chips plan went out the window

Walked back towards park & ride and into pub for late lunch, D Day special supposedly, beef baguette, plus pint of soda & lime and pot of chips. I enjoyed it, but not cheap by any means

I don't feel hungry but if do I may have bowl of cereal / muesli later

You must have had a good day.:)

    Morning all!

Just enjoying a cup of coffee and admiring the blue skies.

I meant to spend the day in the neighbouring town, teaching Year 4. But the teacher off on a course, who I was covering, had her course cancelled.
Luckily my other agency were able to get me a half-day this afternoon at a much nearer school, so it's better than nothing. I've been to this school before, but not met this particular class. So we'll see how it goes. Sure it'll be fine. :) I'll have an early lunch and then aim to get there around 12:30.

I've got an hours private tutoring tonight, but will be home shortly after 6. So that's alright.
I've got a chicken breast out to de-frost. So I'll do something with that, plus Jersey potatoes and the half-can of spaghetti hoops I started on yesterday.

Have a good day all! Glad you had a good time with the planes etc Faraway!

....Always bring a doggy back of the roasties home ... once I was able to have one of the turkey legs, ready cooked, free. ...

You must have a very kindly Toby, and/or be recognised or a regular... if people thought they could take a doggy bag they'd load up the plate with a whole 2nd go round, then shovel the lot into the bag to take home :)

When I moved here I had an AYCE breakfast and the man there said that some people load up and eat a whole plate, then go back and load up again then just walk out.... because they have a peculiar sense of entitlement and "we paid for it" attitude and it brings out a nasty streak in a few people! You sometimes see some AYCE restaurants charging people for leftovers to prevent eyes bigger than bellies. Nobody minds if somebody over calculated a bit, but there's a lot of deliberate food waste going on out there by vicious types.

Today I've got something to do and on the way back I'll swing by the property I have already dismissed. In short - it has a proper/legal driveway, with a dropped kerb, onto a busy through road.... and the bus stop is right outside and the bus yellow stopping area markings run past the drive entrance, so if/when a bus stops there it'd sit and chug (12' from the bedroom) and block access to the drive until somebody's got on and paid. Now ... I suspect few people actually ever use that stop in reality... so today I'll just go and take a look (armed with the bus time table of course, but they do go past every 15 minutes 6am to midnight).

As I'm out I'll be "eating out", I expect a hot bag of chips will be found - and a shuffle round a CoOp where I want to lurk/size up the area from.

Mixed weather today, still no rain but on a promise for the garden tonight
Overnight fresh loaf out of Panny this morning, then porridge breakfast and into town, needed chips mainly, and a YS mooch. Chips was success, YS fail, but I did remember piccalilli this time

Lunch was cheese & tom sarnie using the new loaf
Dinner, I'll pick the LO chick carcass & have the pickings with LO stuffing, salad and chips

I always do, I am ex Royal Navy so it helps at times, especially around here loads of ex service folk. A girl on the Wilko checkout once asked me what it was because her dad had one, no idea why she never asked her dad

Oddly enough after lunch yesterday someone spotted the badge & came over to chat and embarrassingly thanked me for my service:o By coincidence where the pub is used to be HMS Vernon where our ship used to berth, still seems odd seeing shops where the NAAFI was

I had a stir fry for lunch. I feel a bit hungry now as it didn't fill me up.

    Good evening everyone,
It was actually dry & reasonably sunny here today though it looked as though it was going to chuck it down for a bit early afternoon. It's getting rather chilly this evening though. The rain is to come back tomorrow afternoon, I have some errands I need to do so will try and get up an organised and get them done in the morning.
I had a fairly productive day though apart from a quick potter in the garden and watering the greenhouse didn't get any gardening done. I tidy up a bit in my Dad's garden but I need to sort something out for this as it's getting a bit overgrown and is more than I can manage. Last item of his furniture going to charity has been uplifted:), I just need to sort out get the table & chairs to mine now.
I came home to a parcel behind the door which was small open shelving unit I'd ordered for my kitchen to sit in what was previously a wasted & cluttered narrowish space which I had cleared out. I thought it might be a nightmare to put together but it was easy and I'm really pleased with how it looks. It fits the space perfectly and with 3 tiers holds my pressure cooker & 2 slowcookers getting them off of the work top.:D
Quick brunch of mini pork pie, HM bread & butter and a beetroot & cucumber salad with a yoghurt & horseradish dressing. The salad made more than I thought it would so plenty left for tomorrow. I knew having been busy at my Dad's I wouldn't fancy cooking much and defrosted a couple of biggish chicken wings which I'll roast with veg & HM wedges.

I'm sitting putting off watering as heavy rain is forecasted sometime in the early morning, currently it's lovely outside and there's a part of me thinking I should water but I'm holding out :)

Lunchtime I walked up to town and popped into M&S, my sparks card gave me £1 off a packet of biscuits, didn't specify what biscuits so I picked up a packet for free as well as 50p off of dried pasta so that cost me 5p :D the office appreciated the chocolate biscuits, I didn't mention they were free :rotfl:

L - HM chicken soup. I took half a bread roll to toast and forgot to eat it :o
D - steak, asparagus and runner beans. I mashed potatoes but didn't fancy them so they will do for either fish cakes or bubble and squeak at the weekend, I have to work Saturday (from home) so I may do bubble and squeak with bacon and a fried egg

I've written a to do list which turned out rather long :( all those little jobs which I've put off doing I did manage a couple of kitchen jobs when I was cooking dinner :) but found a couple more to take their place
