Yesterday I had 1/3rd of the burger/chilli, another 2 portions are in the fridge.
A bit later I opened (another) tin of creamed rice - I got through three last week.... still two unopened ones to go. I had half a can of creamed rice with two jam portions. The jam portions had been "gifted" to me in a sibling's clear-out about 18 months ago, only just getting to the end of them. Two more jam portions in the fridge, so I'll have creamed rice/jam a bit later on.
I've a few chips in the freezer, not a full portion though. I'll probably have a portion of burger/chilli + some rice + those chips later.
Concentrating on eating food that's in the freezer/cumbersome to get through + tins overload (about 16 tins of beans). Next I'll get onto finishing off opened packets in the cupboard.
None of it's exciting, but it is clearing out the cupboards a tiny bit.
One thing I do, when I get to the end of squeezy sauce bottles if keep them in the fridge to add to the SC. A splash of boiling water in there + shut the lid and shake it all about to clear it, means I've not wasted the last teaspoon or so. Trouble is, I never remember to do that, so I've about four empty bottles in the fridge; could've used up all of those yesterday and got them washed and into the recycling! Maybe next time, I've still another 4 frozen burgers in the freezer, so maybe in a fortnight.0 -
It poured overnight as expected, very soggy out now so postponed any garden thoughts for the moment.
Had quick check on my Sunburst cherry tree, ripening nicely, with lots of mollusc bodies at the base due to judicious use of slug pellets.
Just hoping the deluge does not make the cherries pop their skins
Had a bit of a lie in so later than normal porridge breakfast
More yoghurt made and doing it's thing in the heater
Sorted out the defrosted rump steak for tonight and feeling robbed,:(, it looked lovely in it's plastic wrap, over an inch thick. Once de-cloaked it turned out to be a large thin fatty scrag end:mad:
First time I've had a duff one from L's. It's now trimmed, bashed & marinating for tonight's dinner, probably with my new frozen chips & some salad
Lunch, cheese & salady sarnie I thinkflubberyzing wrote: »But the good news is... I got that job I interviewed for!
I was very brave earlier, and phoned my bank to sort out the online security, which had gone tits-up. Naturally ended up speaking with someone who sounded far away, but got the job done.
Sorting on line security reminds me of what I've been putting off,
I keep getting "nagged" to provide phone number for credit card dual verification, hate that idea even though I fully know why, it's just assumed we all do our banking with "apps" on our smart phones and does not allow for folk like me & my old 2g flip top:(Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I went out to buy marmalade. I had some on 2 toast.
I ordered from Iceland today. I might have a pizza or a burger for lunch, haven't decided yet.
Their veggie No Bull burgers are very nice.:EasterBun0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
Great news re the job flubberyzing
Not much happening here, it's damp & grey out and my "wonky donkey" is playing up.
I am making a pan of mash to use up spuds that were "display until 22nd April" that were lurking under beer in the bottom drawer.....:o I'll mash them with the dregs of a carton of single cream which will be fine for that but is past using by itself. Dinner will be "something" and mash though not sure what yet.
Smoked cheese on crackers with salad for lunch and then feet up for a bit with my book for a few hours.0 -
Work isn't due to start until 2pm so I've spent the last couple of hours tackling the [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] smallest bedroom
and got stuck in a cupboard  no sniggering at the back please  it's a very large deep cupboard over the top of the stairs about 2ft off the ground. I couldn't reach the top shelf even on the little plastic stool so climbed in and twisted my back doing so then couldn't work out how to get down  couldn't find the stool with my foot. The joys of living alone  not one word to my nephews please they seem to think mid 50s is old :rotfl: and I don't want a lecture or them to think they're right
Currently the landing looks like a bomb has dropped, bags for rubbish, recycling, charity shop and keep, it will have to wait until my back stops complaining and I've finished work. I found a box with wrapped ornaments put there from when I decorated the lounge 2007  that's the trouble with having cats people think you want cat gifts  I forgot I had some of them, some I'll keep like my Waterford Crystal one, others I can sneak to charity shop after all this time
I need to grab a quick lunch before work so probably cheese, apple and crackers as don't fancy what I had planned and was waiting to stop wheezing from the dust this tidying is dangerous work .
Dinner will depend on work, it may be the LO rice and vegetables or bubble and squeak with bacon and eggs :think:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good evening everyone,
If it's any consolation Brambling in my loft I have at least one box that's been there since we moved into this house in 1991 and crate from early 2002:o so 2007 is relatively recent:cool:.
I've had a mainly horizontal afternoon trying (and semi-succeeding) to lock the "wonky donkey" back up. It's been raining so I wouldn't have gardened anyway and the house stuff needing done can wait;).
Beef olives with veg to go with the mash for dinner tonight and I've popped a smallish chicken crown into the fridge to defrost to cook in the SC tomorrow. Balance permitting my sis & I hope to get more done at my Dad's and I'm back at his on Monday so the chook should cover a couple of meals. I have a provisional meal plan for the next few days and have updated my "to do" and "use up" lists so not a completely wasted day:).0 -
I'm assuming the weather has brought the donkey out Caronc
. Hopefully you've corralled it for now <hug>
Work finished on time 7.30pm tonightthe first time this year
Sorting the smallest bedroom was top of my to do list:D I've charged the K*rcher to clean the windows but that's tomorrow morning job before I go out, it seems the smears were inside and not out
I've ended up with four bags for charity, a couple of clothes items and some books for my sisters and a 3/4 full recycling bin and general rubbish bin. I'm no sure why I kept my performance reviews for 1988/1989  now they're in the pile to take and shred at work. I found a navy suit in the back of the cupboard brought 2000 for a interview and never worn again
i remember it wasn't cheap and brought in panic as I was under notice of redundancy, I then got redeployed at the same company in a much less formal team so it got pushed to the back. I've definitely changed shape since I brought it
time to regift it I think so that's as well as the the four bags. Second bedroom isn't so bad but the Xmas decs and tree have been dumped and need sorting so that's next.
Dinner ended up as the LO rice and veg with a dollop of sweet chilli sauce and a fried egg on top. I picked up some lemon and elderberry meringue shells on offer I'm not sure they were intended to be ate as is but I've picked at them whilst working so I'm expecting a sugar crash laterLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Rain stopped & sun's out. No gardening though because I'm off over to DS's for visit, which may involve some lunch there if I get lucky
Porridge breakfast
Food for rest of day? No idea, depends how it pans out, nuker is at threat level "Substantial":DEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
