Today I've finished off the chocolate biscuits I bought just the other day.

Lunch was a round of tomato sandwiches I made (2 days ago?) and had put in the fridge as "grab food".

So, that left the evening meal. Didn't fancy kebab again (3rd portion), didn't fancy fish/chips, so that left the frozen ready meal I bought the other day, fish pie, 69p. Ate that with peas.... overall: only bother with that if you really can't find anything else for sale in the shop.... it's pretty sloppy and tasteless.

I currently have the washing machine going... I'm going to Italy on Friday, for 8 nights, so wanted my full wardrobe to pick from. I'll be in the Naples area, and from all accounts, the weather can be a bit variable at this time of year, so I need a full range, from t-shirts to jumpers.

Sounds like you'll have a nice Easter holiday break planned Flubberzing recharging your batteries before term restarts. :)

Tidied and decluttered under the stairs and the airing cupboard today, I had to pull stuff out from under the stairs for the electrician and rather than push it back in front of the rest I pulled it all out today and went through it. Any ideas why I have three half bags of dishwasher salt  and we won't discuss multiplying bags for life

Lunch was sardines on toast with sliced tomatoes and dinner was gammon with new potatoes and cauliflower cheese. The gammon was bigger than I usually buy I picked it up in M&s yesterday one of their honey glazed joints in a tray you just pop in the oven but it was on offer so the same price as the smaller ones which weren't.

Borrowed Elonas tip and cleaned a stained ceramic frying pan with a dishwasher tablet, dissolved in boiling water and let it simmer for a while, the pan came up like new :D

    Good evening everyone,

Still haven't managed a proper thread catch up but welcome to trailingspouse and <<hugs>> to CG.
Back to CFO land as my younger son left earlier today, it's been lovely having the kids around but I'm also glad to get back to a quieter house.
I decided my huge "to do" list could wait until tomorrow as mentally & physically I'm pretty much running on fumes so I've had a day of gentle pottering. I got my tomato, cucumber & courgette seeds planted and also had a fridge sort out to see what was lurking.
Meals have been pretty sketchy recently though my son made me for Mother's Day a lovely steak dinner last night:D. With it he roasted some baby spuds with loads of herbs & garlic which were lovely and even better there were LOs as well as some LO profiteroles:D. F&V count hasn't been fab recently and my "system" is beginning to protest! Trying to get back on track today, had a banana for breakfast and for lunch a wholemeal wrap with hummus, falafels and baby leaves with a couple of handfuls of baby plum tomatoes. Dinner tonight is roasted chicken thigh with roasted veg, the LO spuds and no doubt I'll snaffle the profiteroles while catching up with Masterchef:).

I managed to order lots of fruit, veg, yoghurt, low cal soups etc to be delivered tomorrow around six p.m.

Youngest dd is driving out for a shopping trip and wants to leave around 9a.m. and have a brunch while we are out so I had better turn off the laptop and get some sleep. I loaded the dishwasher earlier and did a tidy of the kitchen before youngest reproaches me gently lol.

I am glad the tip worked for you.

    'morning all

Another bright but chilly wind day

    Breakfast porridge again

Lunch, thinking of one egg omelette sarnie, I've an egg glut after nearly running out the other week

Dinner, I think it will be repeat of the cold pork & stuffing sarnie I had last night. Still in CBA mode even though I've plenty of nuke meals in the freezer

Caron, nice to get back to "normal" and seed sowing. My toms are getting a bit crowded now and need potting on soon.
I've a glut of fresh parsley since sowing it last year, I think it was you that prompted me to try some fresh stuff, and I've spotted coriander coming up in the garden after I let it self seed

    Good morning everyone,
Glad the parsley is doing well Farway, it's such a handy herb to have a load of.
It's cold, grey & damp here this morning and we're forecast sleet/snow tomorrow:eek:.
I've been working on my "to do" list and it's pretty long. I'll get my daily chores out of the way and then settle down with a cuppa and start making calls etc. I also need to update my own finances. Hopefully I can get a few things off the list but I suspect some of the calls will generate more "to dos" ;).

Only scoffed one of the profiteroles last night so there's a couple left for today:). I haven't decided what to have for dinner tonight but it will probably be pasta in some guise. Lunch will be another wrap to use up the hummus and falafels.
  • 3/4 of large quiche and all small ones are now in freezer. Used the remains of some stilton in them so was quite tasty. Got 2nd lamb steak out of freezer maybe for tonight, may have something else, not sure yet, Have 3 boiled eggs in fridge to use for lunches or nibbles.

I bought a bag of carrots the other week, needed using up.
I bought a pack of sausages early last week, needed using up.
I had the final two onions, needed using up.
I'd bought a sachet of "sausage casserole" to use, so better use it.
There was a tin of chickpeas that've been in the cupboard, so could use those up.
There's green and yellow peppers in the freezer, need using up.

So ... tossed that lot into the SC. Skinned/rolled the sausages so it's meatballs and stuff.... it was all a bit big for a 3.5l SC really, so it's a proper pot full.

EDIT: Sausage casserole was served with spaghetti (easiest thing to cook/least washingup) ... it was gorgeous :)

Obviously still another 3 portions ....
But also still another 2 portions of kebab (which might need to be frozen)

Really glad I cooked that sausage casserole, BUT ... one of the issues for CFO is that when the weather changes you do get stuck eating "the wrong food for the weather" so many times. When I bought the sausages/thought of it, the weather was supposed to be turning cooler/icy again - as it turns out it's still super warm, so a casserole was "the wrong food for the weather" -and- I've still another 3 portions of "the wrong food for the weather" to eat :(

EDIT 2: It was so good... I just helped myself to a second portion, just the casserole, eaten from a wide mouthed mug with a fork :)

I've had a smoothie and then a jacket potato with vegan cheese and salad so far today. I feel very full up! Jackets are very filling.

It's lovely here today, very sunny.

    Good evening everyone,

It's proper "sausage casserole" weather here PN and of course I seem to have a fridge full of salady bits!
I had a reasonably productive day and got more off than added to the "to do" list though to be fair I did get a good few "quick" things done and didn't make much of a dent in the more time consuming stuff.
I had made a pot of blended tomato & butter bean soup last week that ended up being portioned and frozen. Tonight I'm going to use a tub of it as a sauce to have with stuffed pasta, I'm going to take some stewing steak out to defrost, as it's to be cold for a few days a bit pot of stew appeals and I can lob in loads of lurking veg.
