I think we had the last of the sunny weather today it's forecast to be cold and wet for the next couple of days
. Which is a shame as lunchtime it was warm enough to walk without a jacket again. The warm weather has also brought out the tractors in force there was definitely the smell of the country when I drove home tonight, not sure if it's the right time of year to muck spread it certainly smelt like they had
It's the usual busy start to the month and I'm training our newest team member on my usual beginning of the month job, I hate training it out as I'm a little bit of a control freak with it as so much can go wrong and it can take me longer to rectify than doing it myself but needs must if I want time off the first week of the month
Lunch was LO cauliflower cheese and gammon, I forgot it was an extra large cauliflower when I cut it in half as usual so more for tomorrow. The gammon is very nice and has cooked lovely and moist. Dinner was some lovely large scallops with roe picked up reduced in W*itrose (I only went in for fruit and potatoes ). I only treated myself to four so I defrosted some squid when I got home and had it with stir fry veg. Unfortunately the YS stir fry pack contained the devils herb coriander _pale_. Monday is obviously the day for reduced fish and meat on their counters I did resist as I have no freezer room but it was difficult to walk away as it was half price

Good morning everyone,
Lucky you with the YS scallops Brambling:).
No sign of the forecasted sleet/snow but there has been some fierce, icy showers. It's bloomin' cold though.
I've spent most of the morning on the phone so enjoying a much needed cuppa before I chop the veg for my stew and tackle some of the laundry mountain. As it's so cold I think soup is needed for lunch, I've a tub of ham & lentil in the freezer which will do nicely. I might get some soup made while I'm prepping the veg for the stew and replenish my freezer soup stocks as it looks as though it's to be cold for the next week or so. I've a huge cauli in the fridge so will either use some of that for soup or go with leek & tattie.0 -
I've had a smoothie and a cup of green tea.
I'm having another jacket potato for breakfast. I put one in for my husband but his one dropped on the floor.:rotfl:
I'm trying to cut down on bread at the moment as well. I do like spuds anyway.:)0 -
Weather has changed, rain & cold.
Ideal HM soup day, more of this later
Into L's first thing, the only YS around was spicy smokey wings, piles of them, never tried them as spicy doesn't appeal, so it was apples, toms, onions & milk. Living on the edge here
Lunch was use up OOD bake it yourself baguette, I had last of the LO cold pork, with salady bits in it
Cracked on with the planned HM leek & spud soup, it's done now, only needs re heating & blitzing but it looks a good 'un
I've put a loaf on in the Panny
Rains hammering down, just the day for HM soup & fresh breadWednesday2000 wrote: »I'm having another jacket potato for breakfast. I put one in for my husband but his one dropped on the floor.:rotfl:
Odd that, it was always my wife's egg yolk that popped;)Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Weather's only changed to cold/wet in the last hour or so.
For lunch today I knocked up a giant Yorkie and reheated one of my kebab portions (just one remaining, which I might freeze). I laid the kebab across the yorkie, rolled it up into a wrap and cut into two halves. Glad I did that, it was lovely.
A bit later, as I've milk to use up - and I'd only used a tiny bit in the Yorkie (60ml), I made up a pack of Angel Delight... strawberry because, even though I prefer other flavours, I'll typically buy "3 packs for..." deals of such items and so always mix the flavours a bit. So I've already scoffed one of three portions of Strawberry Angel Delight
I expect I'll scoff another AD portion in the next 10-15 minutes...
I wonder why they never made Orange or Lemon flavours ... or Lime, or Mint.... or others... they've only ever been strawberry, chocolate and butterscotch.0 -
Good evening everyone,
You used to get lime "Instant Whip" PN, we always had it a guide camp for some reason. I remember having to whisk umpteen packs for ages (and ages and ages!) in a bucket, no individual portions it was set in the bucket and ladled/slopped out for pud along with tinned fruit. It didn't look pretty but we always ate and enjoyed it. If you were on washing up duty you got to scrape the bucket out and drink the spare fruit syrup:rotfl:
Between the stew and a pot of carrot & sweet potato soup I've managed to clear a good load of lurking veg. The sweet potatoes were at the "use them or lose" them stage so glad I didn't end up having to ditch them:).
It got quite sunny this afternoon and was warm in the conservatory though still perishing outside! The weather broke early evening and we've had lots of heavy hail with some snow forcast for higher ground overnight:eek:. My sister popped round after her work for a cuppa & catch up which was lovely. I toyed with making a dumpling to have with the stew but went with mash from the freezer instead. There's loads left so can have some with dumplings another time. The soup just needs blitzed & seasoned which I'll do tomorrow as cba now, I reckon I should get 4 or 5 decent portions out of it. It was only a teeny portion of lentil that had been frozen, not nearly enough to fill me for lunch so had a cheese salad roll with it.:) While I was sorting out veg earlier I discovered a pack of courgettes & one of sprouts that have been in there for weeks. Both look fine though I reckon will spoil quite quickly once the packs are opened- have added them to my use up list which considering the chaos of the last few weeks isn't as bad as it could have been.0 -
PN they use to do a banana favour one which I never liked _pale_ not sure if they still do it but always tasted more artificial than the others
Another busy day today so just as well it was cold and wet lunchtime as I ate at my desk, probably not ideal but it was just one of those days, the one task I wanted to finish unfortunately kept getting pushed back with more urgent work
My neighbour offered to mow my lawn for me I did think about saying no for about a second but it's a job I hate and makes me wheeze so I'm taking him up on it he says it will only take another ten minutes on top of his, he won't take payment so I'll stock up on beer he likes from the local micro brewery and pay him in those. And whilst talking on the doorstep my timid wee beastie walked passed him to come indoors, I know my neighbour talks to him in his garden from a distance as the cat usually hides when he sees him
. Little steps but his lordship is getting there :j. My previous cats would just walk in if the door was opened
Lunch was the same as yesterday's LO gammon with cauliflower cheese, it's just as well I'm liking this gammon as I also had it for dinner with LO new potatoes turned into chips in the air fryer and a fried egg. There's some gammon left but I'll have a break tomorrow and take soup for lunchLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
,
You used to get lime "Instant Whip"
I've gotta Google that now.... back in a bit....
EDIT:
Channel 4 said it used to come in 9 flavours.
https://twitter.com/channel4/status/977275375091724288
Somebody answering that twitter post said there were more - and did a big (unsubstantiated) list of 16 flavours!
EDIT 2:
Angel D is currently available in more than three flavours:
strawberry, butterscotch, chocolate, white chocolate and banana
There's a list on wikipedia of the discontinued flavours
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Delight
Black cherry was discontinued.... I'd have definitely bought that if I'd seen it!
EDIT 3:
Currently available in five flavours.

I used to like Angel Delight.
I'm having a smoothie for breakfast, chickpea salad for lunch and then making leek and potato soup later.2025 GOALS
