    Good afternoon everyone,
Good research PN I never new there had been so many AD flavours. It was mainly Instant Whip we had when I was growing up as I think it was slightly cheaper, it disappeared a good few years ago. I never liked the banana ones but I'm not keen on articial banana flavour in anything. Butterscotch is definitely the best IMHO:).
Wet & wintry and my friend who lives a few miles inland woke up this morning to a couple of inches of snow though it's mainly away now with the rain. I've done a bin run and filled the bird feeders so don't need to venture out again today:).

HM carrot & sweet potato soup for lunch and for dinner I'll either have some more of the stew or if I cba I'll make cauli cheese. I'll see what I fancy later.

It started raining as soon as I went out so I fancied something hot when I got in so I had baked beans on toast. I want a cup of green tea now.

I reheated the 3rd portion of my sausage casserole for lunch, also cooked a bit of spaghetti.

If I repeat that again for tea then I'll have seen the back of it.

I have to pop out a bit later, so there's a slim chance I might return home with sausage rolls instead... have to see how I feel.

Oooh, frost overnight, good job I've not planted anything out yet

Just right for my porridge breakfast

My leek & spud soup turned out lush, one of my better ones.
I looked on You tube, even though I sorta knew, but sweating the leeks & onion I think helped, anyway, I had another bowl for lunch, with slice of HM bread, which also turned out to be excellent

I've enough soup left to use for dinner, so that'll be it all gone in 24 hours

I can have bowl of muesli or similar if hungry later

I see Asda has offer on lamb leg, I may have a look tomorrow, but it's very dependent on where it's from, I may have to play my Halal avoidance card

    Good evening everyone,
Laughed re there being a "slim chance" you might buy sausage rolls PN:D:rotfl:
Glad you soup was good Farway, I wish I had gone with leek & tattie as my carrot & sweet potato use up effort wasn't great:(. Nothing wrong with at such just too sweet for my taste, it needs something/jazzing up a bit but as it was made from less than at their prime veg I cba trying to rescue it and it's getting ditched:o, something I seldom too but life's too short to eat my way through something that was made from odds and ends that I'm not enjoying. Ended up having a toasted cheese & tomato roll for lunch instead which I did enjoy, however much as love cheese I'm not having it agan for dinner so cauli cheese will be made another day. I don't fancy stew again but as there is surplus gravy from it, dinner tonight is going to be bangers & mash with gravy & veg. Unlike the soup I'm happy to freeze the remaining stew to enjoy another time.
I realised today that I was both physically and mentally exhausted, I knew I was physically struggling but hadn't realised how mentally tired I was. I decided to have a day off from dealing with "Dad stuff" and have had a pretty quiet day. I had a long chat with one of my friends and spoke to both the kids and feel more on top of things this evening.:) There was nothing on my "to do" that had to be done today and hopefully I can get back to it tomorrow with renewed vigour.:)
The weather has been dire today and but a wet start it's supposed to improve a bit tomorrow if not warm up significantly. I hope it does as I have letter to post and would like to get some fresh air - fingers crossed.

Hope you feel more yourself tomorrow Caronc, I believe you run on adrenaline after a death and eventually you run out of steam and energy, just make sure you take care of yourself or the wonky donkey will be giving you a kicking <<hugs>>

Glad to see you got your 'fix' PN. :rotfl:

Yep we also had a frost Farway it was a bit of a shock after the weekend weather :(. The one wet part of the day was lunchtime, when it hailed when I was out walking :o I popped in to w*itrose to shelter and picked up some YS rhubarb and Strawberries, I was trying to look unlike a shoplifter lurking in the aisles :rotfl: I will stew them tomorrow as it's a combination I love cold :D

Lunch was some soup from the freezer it's was called green minestrone with spinach tortellini added to it. Dinner was lamb liver, mash, fried onion and Savoy cabbage with bacon. The liver was from M&S and less than £1 for two good size portions, I froze the second portion as I didn't fancy it two days running

    Good afternoon everyone,
Weather is still rubish here but I managed to nip out between showers and get a letter posted. I was glad to get back indoors though as it was perishing and I forgot to put my hat on!:o
I'm feeling less exhausted today and I've got a couple of things of the "to do" list:)

Gammon steak with roasted cauli & courgette, a flat mushroom & a baked spud for dinner tonight. Lunch will be an egg or cheese salad wrap.

I was just saying how nice that soup is for so few ingredients. I only use leeks, potatoes and marigold boullion powder and it turns out delicious.:A

    I'm having a bowl in a minute.:)

I love it with soda bread, I haven't made that in ages.

I've got same weather as PN, and I guess so has Brambling, cold & wet, with sleet mixed in

    Porridge again

Then out for mooching and shopping, I've actually run out of *XO cubes, used the last veggie in the Leek & spud soup.
Found some on offer in Iceland, but no YS in there, it was always good YS pickings on Thursday, must have had tighten up on stock control:(

Nothing else YS worthwhile any where, spent a massive 35P in w8rose on bananas, got the free for members food mag, I only take it 'cos it's free, nothing in there that I would ever cook, all larks' tongues with Moroccan spices simmered in Yak's milk type of fodder;)

Lunch was last of the PB baguettes, filled with cheese & salad bits

In sync again Caron, "I'm happy to freeze the remaining stew to enjoy another time." I've taken a portion of HM beef stew out to defrost for dinner, the weather is ideal for a thick stew

I've a couple of LO boiled spuds & some cooked veg, may nuke them to go with, or because I've had them a bit they may be binned once I get to looking closely:o

I love soda bread as well, also not made it for yonks, would've gone well with the soup
The only extra I added to the soup was knob of butter for initial sweating, and some OOD soft cheese to add to the creamy texture, but I think it would have been just as tasty to have left them out as full on Vegan

    Good evening everyone,
Sounds like just the weather for soup and stew Farway, less is always more I think when it comes to Leek & Tattie soup though like you I tend to use a little butter and milk/cream cheese though it's fine without them I prefer it slightly creamy.:)
The weather here perked up a bit this afternoon although the temperature didn't it's to dip to near freezing tonight. Still proper sun and a half decent temperature is forecast for tomorrow though again heading to 0C at night. I don't mind an overnight frost if it's nice during the day. We are still a good few weeks away from our last predicted frost date so no tender plants will put into the garden until it's past.
Lunch was a cheese salad wrap using some rather smelly but very tasty Belgian cheese my son's fiancee gave me. There's just enough left for lunch tomorrow:D. Despite it being a sealed tub it still is making it's presence felt when you open the fridge door:eek:, but the flavour is well worth the whiff:).
I got a good few items off of the "to do" unfortunately most of them generated more "to dos" so the list hasn't shrunk. Managed to get a few personal admin things done and caught up with my monthly finances, thankfully despite a few weeks of neglect everything balanced quite easily.:)
A grocery delivery is booked for tomorrow, despite various bits in the fridge I'm running out of staples (both food and household) and need to get stuff to make hummus & baba ganoush to take to my friends on Saturday. My sis and I are heading to their house for a wee overnight and some much needed "R&R" which I'm looking forward to.:)
