Good morning everyone,

Sounds as though you having to quite a bit of tongue biting with EF Brambling, I admire your patience.

Overcast but dry so far, the thunder storms and rain didn't appear yesterday either. There's a chance of showers today but we'll see. Tesco due later, no OOS or subbed stuff though I couldn't get the large cauliflower I wanted. DS1 will pick one up over the weekend.

LOs for lunch and usual Friday tbc for dinner.

I’ve been missing for a couple of days too, the bowling has been keeping me busy and out of the kitchen, so I'm glad I keep the freezer well stocked with hm ready meals.

Visit to the vaccination centre this morning as I’d been invited to get the RSV vaccine so a quiet relaxing day at home in the hopes there aren't too many side effects.

It’s not as warm today so I’ll have some soup from the freezer for lunch and for dinner a lovely piece of breaded haddock, AF chips and peas.

Phew, made it to a long weekend 😅

Rainy on and off all day but dodged the showers for a short outing at lunchtime, rewarded with a sandwich.

Took advantage of the co-op pizza and ice cream deal tonight. Also got coleslaw to have with the pizza as part of the 3 for 2 deli deal so there's a quiche in the fridge for lunches over the next week as well as nice olives to snack on. Plus got milk at members price and a RTC garlic baguette, and used a 50p off voucher in the app 🤑

Caronc my patience is wearing a little thin, I'm the one she sees the most so the one who gets all the complaining and moaning. I think there are cognitive issues not that I would say that to her.

Usual Friday volunteering today the cooler weather seems to mean we were busy. It was overcast all day but no rain,I think they are saving that until tomorrow.

Buckwheat salad with white beans, feta and olives for lunch. Pan fried sea bass (YS of course 😁) it did have a lemon and pepper butter which I left off and just served it with a parsley salsa type sauce, with broccoli, corn on the cob and new potatoes

The saved rain has appeared at long last, a nice drizzly morning, can almost hear the plants cheering

Dog sitting went well, maybe it's me but the dogs I've sat for seem to be happy enough with a human around while they doze off. This one was no exception, once he realised whining at the door for his mistress [my DD] was not going to bring her back he was on his blanket and asleep with his legs in the air

Decided to cook the leg of lamb I have had frozen since Easter 2024. It was on offer then so I bought a "spare" at £6.50 Kg. Given today's prices I suspect this may be the last leg of lamb I ever eat, I see the on offer at todays price is nearly £30 for a leg, way beyond my CFO range

I was going to bung in slow cooker, but it's too big, so it's in the oven on low which I hope will be OK. It was vacuum packed so not dried out in freezer

Lunch, maybe YS mushrooms on toast

Dinner, the slow roast lamb, TBD accompaniments, new spuds & veg probably

It’s feeling like the season is starting to change around here, much cooler and a bit overcast today but I’m hoping the rain stays away until my laundry dries.

A quick visit to the butcher this morning and picked up some locally grown potatoes and another new flavour of sausage - this one is labelled Andalouse - I can't find much info online but going by the colour I’m hoping it may be more like the Cajun style Andouilli sausage, I’ll find out another time as I’m putting these in the freezer. 

I finally managed to pick up a piece of liver for dinner tonight, really looking forward to this and will probably coat it with oatmeal then fry it and have it with some fried onions, ss peas and boiled potatoes.

For lunch today there’s an egg that needs using so the easy option is an egg, lettuce and tomato sandwich.

Hugs Brambling you are being a very loyal friend.

Late on parade as my sis came by to collect her pooch and stayed for a cuppa and natter.

Hazy sunshine and feeling quite warm here today, no rain forecast so it will probably pour!

CFO as DS2 has headed to Newcastle for a colleague's wedding, he'll be back tomorrow so I'm charge of pooches until then. First time I've had an overnight with the two of them so fingers crossed Frank isn't unsettled. They've had a huge walk so will be fine with garden until tomorrow.

Salad with sweet chilli Quorn bites for lunch. I've smoked haddock defrosting for dinner and there's a batch of soaked peas simmering in the SC to make pea and ham soup tomorrow. I'll decide later what to with the haddock.

Lazy morning here and then have stripped and remade bed, dusted and hoovered upstairs and done a lidl shop (including a free chocolate muffin courtesy of 🐙)

LO pizza with salad and coleslaw for lunch. Chinese style pork belly strips with noodles and stir fried pak choi and red pepper tonight.

Lots of lovely rain today, not too heavy but consistent.

I'm helping cover extra days so another Petworth day volunteering, it turned out quite busy as well 🙂

I hope the lamb was worth the wait Farway, I only buy it when it's half price., last time I boned a whole legs and made three joints,

I.forgot to take a piece of steak out of the freezer for dinner so made do with pasta with pesto

Good morning everyone,

I do the same as you when lamb is on offer Brambling.

And yes it did rain yesterday despite the dry forecast. Not for long but heavily. We have a weather warning for thunderstorms kicking in soon though it is currently dry and bright.

Pooches were good overnight once Frank got over his initial confusion. Not the best sleep I've ever had but fine as a once off. DS2 will be home in the next few hours. Spoke to DS1 who is now in Greece after a work trip to Africa. He was shattered with all the travelling but had an eye-opening experience. DGD was getting stuck in to her dinner though was wearing a good portion of it!

Made a lovely cheesy haddock, leek and cauliflower bake for dinner. Lots of LOs so a I'll have a portion for lunch and freeze the remainder. So much for serves 2. I had it with carrots, peas and Cavolo Nero. Pea and ham soup for dinner using stock and ham hock meat from the freezer along with some roast chicken.
