Hi all. A late one from me tonight, it's been a strange two days. I've felt so tired and have fell asleep on the sofa both afternoons  Maybe my brain is recovering from the exams, or I'm starting to lose the plot completely :rotfl:
Lunch was 3 pancakes as I suddenly had a yen for them. Luckily the recipe from my Scottish grandmother is easily scaled up or down. Dinner was beans and scrambled eggs on toast followed by a hefty serving of a raspberry and peach crumble that I made. I may have the remainder on its own for breakfast in true CFO style!
Hope everyone is well?0 -
Up, dressed, ready for opening.... 4ldi's doors open at 8am, going to do an "early doors first rush" to get some basics and scan my eye across for any red stickers.... if red stickers are on any meat, then I'll be chucking some stuff into the SC when I get home.
Not going out "for bargains" in themselves; going out when it's quieter/before the rush, but I might get lucky.
EDIT: Well, I'm back. Spent a fortune! Bill was just over £12 in total. VERY few red stickers, probably a total of a dozen in the whole shop!
RS: Some chicken breast strips in sweet chilli sauce, £2.99-£1.50=£1.49.
RS: Bag of 5 green/red peppers (mostly green to be honest). £1.59- half (can't remember if it was 80p off that or if the till took 79p.
So those two, I figured, could go into the SC immediately - and I've done that, plus tossed in an onion. In a bit I'll look through my recipe ideas and see if there's anything else I've got that's worth tossing in too.
Got 2.5Kg spuds, 10 eggs and a loaf of bread. Bought a bar of chocolate and a bag of salted peanuts.
Choccy biscuits: today I bought their "hobnobs", 41p a pack of 16... got 3 here now with a coffee.
Also got a pack of 6 salad tomatoes, one of this week's "offers", to go in sandwiches.
Vacuum pack pizza bases: Spotted these in the middle of the bread aisle in one of the square cages... a 2 pack, for 89p. Date on them's 2nd April so I figured I could make/eat four pizzas by that dateThey won't take up any fridge or freezer space ... but when I popped them into the bread bin I discovered they're about 1cm wider than the bread bin, so had to remove them from there else one edge will break where it's folded over a bit. Annoying that stuff is
Tuna: This was one of the priciest things. I like tuna, I've always had it in the cupboard, but prices went sky high so I've not bought any for well over a year, but it was on my mind to - and today was the day. 4 tins of tuna in spring water, £2.55, which is 53p/100g drained weight (according to the shelf sticker). Buying a single can the same size/brand is dearer at 65p/100g drained.
I also stocked up by buying two 1 litre bottles of bubble bath.
I think that's it.... lots of meals in there though, for £12..0 -
PN Also some nice bubble baths too by the sound of it
I like the Aldi hobnobs they're an acceptable version in my book.

They say, put stuff in a SC and go out ... come home X hours later to a dinner. I've never done that .... I now know why they all say that....
Fewer than 2 hours after starting ..... the smell is utterly, utterly, amazing and I WANT IT NOW!!!
Of course, what I could do is scoop out a portion and finish it off in the nuker ... but I'll be good and just take exceedingly long/slow sniffs of the air and wait it out. Roughly 4ish hours to go... *sighs*.
Lunch might be a tomato sandwich, can't have more than that as I'm "saving myself" for the chicken later (which I'll serve with basmati)0 -
Good morning
How is everyone in CFO land? It's warmer than it has been here today but fairly windy.
Today I am finishing the weeks reading for uni and making a big minced beef base to be frozen in single portions and turned into anything I fancy that's minced beef based.
Lunch is going to be a tuna sandwich and dinner will be chilli (from the minced beef pot) and rice. There is some crumble and custard left in the fridge so that will no doubt be eaten as well
Apart from the cooking I shall be washing and drying clothes and binge watching one of Netflix's latest offerings :rotfl:0 -
After work yesterday,a bunch of family were meeting up in wetherspoons, I decided to eat at home, then join them for a drink. So I had a quick fish fingers chips and beans.
Definitely had too much wine, and I'm paying the price this morning!
Hope to be feeling ok for when I go to my pilates/physio this is my last session.
I'm going to a local panto later, my sister has bought the tickets, there's around 20 of us going, mostly family. It's my first time going with them, they go every year, I'm taking dgson well have tea together first then he'll sleep at mine before I drop him home on my way to work.
Cold and raining out at the moment, I'm hoping it improves before I need to go out.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Good morning everyone,
Sounds like a good load of stuff for £12 PN:).
SG - listen to your body you are recovering from a horrible lurgy so snoozing is allowed:).
Wet & windy here though much milder. Thankfully managed to do the bin run and top up my log pile without getting completely soaked but it's tipping it down now! Doubt I'll be going out for a walk as I'd hoped.
I'm undecided about food today, as it's "Burns Night" I should really have haggis, neeps & tatties but although I have all the ingredients I'm not sure I fancy it. I might give a nod to the haggis and have a chicken, haggis & peppercorn sauce pie from the freezer instead:).
My son is home tonight for the weekend though not until late as he's heading to a mate's "Burns Supper" first.0 -
MTSTM has asked me to say hello to the CFO gang
. She is still keeping up with everyone's news and is pleased to report she doesn't think she'll need to be on that diet much longer now. She's nearly got her figure back now and people commenting favourably on the weight loss:D. Still having DOD's (ie Days Off Diet) and is looking forward to having some more interesting food again soon - and a (small) bottle of champagne to celebrate being back to 8.5 stones again:D:D:beer:
Decided that I do fancy haggis, neeps & tatties tonight after all:). Lunch is going to be a bagel with scrambled egg, mushrooms and tomato.0 -
I had vegan hot dogs with ketchup just now.
I'm about to leave for my pampering at the Chinese herbalists this afternoon. Hope it will be nice and relaxing. I love having my feet massaged.:p0
