Wow, CG, snowing, no thank you, not here anyway. Just dull & cold

I polished of last of beans & last slice of bread for "tea" yesterday, had wanted more toast but my other loaf was going green:eek:, binned that

Brambling, if you do venture to Wisley 2019, I'd suggest summer, by then nearly all the work will be finished and looking great.
We could swap manky pans there, near waterfall in the greenhouse?:D

First day back to volunteering post lurgy. Into L's on the way, loads of empty shelves again, I had wanted large tin of salmon but still none there

Did find YS cooked sliced beef, two packs of them, one lunch, one freezer, rest was boring stuff, like milk etc

Lunch as above, YS sliced beef, with salady bits in a sarnie

I had to collect my LO prescription, into Costcutter and found dinner, YS beef & veg pasty
I'll have frozen chips & maybe beans with it, nice comfort food in this weather

Great minds, I was only thinking i should see about some frozen oven baked rolls of some sort, now I've an extra freezer. Normally I've L's PB baguettes but they go out of date, ready frozen would be easier. Added to have look see next time in SM list

PS, good news on Zeus, amazing how resilient animals are

  • I had a sandwich for brunch. I got up very late as my husband is working nights so I stay on the same schedule as him.

I'm had a coconut kombucha too, yuck, I threw it away.:rotfl:

No snow here. House was warm (59-59/15C) when I woke up, but there was definitely a frost on everybody's windscreen (benefits of a modern/insulated house as the heating hadn't been on since early yesterday evening).

I had the second L reduced price Steak Slice. When it comes to cheap "slices" that one's not bad (Minced Steak, pack of two, about £1.42). Today I had it with chips and beans :)

Also eaten a pack of crisps and some choccies.

Probably just have toast later... or maybe toast/beans, or maybe toast/beans/cheese.

    Evening All :D

Snow here too today on and off and an accident on the M60 this morning making my journey of 11 miles last and hour and fifteen minutes. It seems to have stopped now and is just turning very cold.

My day was a repeat of yesterday with uni but I'm making chicken curry and rice for tea. Will add some sweet potato and frozen spinach too and hopefully it'll be tasty.

CandyGirl So pleased that Zeus is on the road to recovery.

PN How did the viewings go?

Brambling My feet would have been freezing so you're not alone. After I'd defrosted the car this morning mine were cold enough to have the heat directed half on the windscreen and half on my tootsies ;)

Wednesday Do you stay awake all night to match your husband's sleeping/working pattern? It's a really good idea, when my DH was on nights I barely saw him as only one of us was actually in the bed asleep at any one time!

I'm another who is glad that all Ratties have left the CFOer's houses and that we all seem to be getting better from the recent bouts of lurgy too. Maybe winning a years supply of chocolate could be the next thing we do in pairs :D:D

    Good evening everyone,
Great news CG that Zeus is recovering, hopefully Bonnie can soon come home.:)
No snow here though there is quite a bit inland and there have been some fab pictures of a snowy Arran posted on the local FB group:). The horribly sleety/hail showers have cleared and there's now a heavy frost, it's supposed to drop to -5/6C tonight:eek:, I will be looking a blanket out to stick over my duvet as I like to be nice and warm in my bed. :)
I didn't make soup in the end up as I remembered I had a couple of portions of ham &lentil in the freezer so had one of those with my bagel. Stovies are cooked and that's the last of the cheap Christmas veg used up apart from a couple of carrots, it lasted well though a couple of the spuds were going sprouty but were fine when peeled. Just need to cook some brussels to have with the stovies and dinner will be good to go.

Thanks for the tip re waiting until summer Farway although I fear if we wait until summer the pans may walk there themselves :D

Good news that Zeus is on the mend Candy :)

Although it wasn't as cold this morning the rain over night froze so it wasn't so much as scraping the car this morning but chipping off the ice, the drive in was hairy in a couple of places with ice on the roads  the joys of country driving  it was raining when I drove home so it will be fun again tomorrow if it freezes again

Lunch today was more of my HM minestrone soup, which I'm really enjoying :) dinner was stir fry veg with crispy tofu, I picked up a nice pack of stir fry YS in w*itrose and added a couple of mushrooms and some yellow pepper so it will do me tomorrow as well. I also picked up some YS quorn steaks which I froze.

Does any one want a grumpy cat? I swiped the tablet he swiped me so big angry scratch across the back of my hand which drew blood :( we are now sitting opposite ends of the sofa sulking, he likes to drive the tablet, he finds if he drops his paw on it the screen moves, or maybe he hadn't finished reading the page :rotfl:

    Good morning everyone,
Lol at the "grumpy cat" Brambling:rotfl:
It was -6C when I got up this morning and after the wet weather yesterday my garden is like an ice rink. The suns shining though so hopefully it will melt quite quickly as I'm not venturing out until it does and the bird feeders need topped up.
Stovies were grand last night and I might have some for lunch today. Not sure about dinner tonight yet either a naan bread pizza or pasta.

    Frosty morning, but sun's out

Caron, oooh, we are so in sync, I bunged a thin sleeping bag on top of my duvet last night;)

    Porridge breakfast

Lunch will be some YS beef slices + salad bits in a sarnie

This afternoon is a "thank you" buffet for us volunteers, tea, cake & triangular sarnies I expect, sounds good to me

Dinner depends on how the buffet goes, maybe doggy bags for CBA CFO types? I'll just have to wait & see

More troubles, my dishwasher is playing up again, it was not emptying, so I bailed it out and washed up by hand

Very glad I had the lever taps fitted, made lighter work of washing up at least

Now the DW pump keeps running & will not start it's wash cycle:(

I suspect the flood switch has activated. Solution sounds easy, just drag DW out and tip it 45% to rear to drain, not so easy with back & wobble problems:(

Think I'll procrastinate on that for a bit until I feel a bit ooomphier

Of course, problem still remains, why did it not drain in the first place? Probably bunged up with a RAT:eek::eek::D
