So many loose ends in my tree.... so many little b4st4rds too
So many common names where people (mainly female) start off in my tree then become of age and "disappear" as they could've moved to work in service, or married, or anything ... and the name's too common to guess....
Even mum's father ... she was illegitimate, father's known/named ... but ... what IF granny dropped her knickers for more than one and just had a "denial" moment and named one?? Gt-granny was illegitimate - cousin thinks it was the lodger, I think the lodger appeared after the event and might be the father of the next illeg child.
Half the tree were at it.
Sounds like a family tree well worth researching:rotfl: Mine's very boring really"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Beef slice at lunchtime was just the job, except I fumbled as I removed from mini oven and it finished up in the bottom getting branded by hot element:mad:
I may bung some chips in the Actifry to go with tonight's slice
PN, your tree sounds like just the thing DNA could help with, but eliciting a response from someone about their mum or dad's seed sowing could be hard work
I read one where the adult "brothers" had separate fathers once DNA came back, most awkward, how do you ask your Mum about that?:oEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Lunch was a pear with vanilla yogurt and seeds.
I had been unable to buy any gfree yorkshire puds, yesterday, so had a bash at making some.
They were fab, with the chicken roast dinner.
Dgson and I baked a sponge cake so I added jam and custard and warmed it in the microwave for afters . Yum.
Farway I hope your meal goes more successfully tonight.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -

I read about a women in the US who had started a support group for people who found out their dads were not their biological dads with a sub branch for dads who found out they weren't bio' dads. In her case she had to have a conversation with her mother who was in her late 80's and had kept a secret she hoped with never come out. Like you say it can open a can of worms
I've also dropped a bottle of olive oil  I didn't know where to start on that clean up, did leave lovely shiny floor :rotfl:
Wort do you use Dove flour?
I made soup this morning, minestrone without the bacon, but didn't fancy it lunchtime, not a problem as it will do for lunches next week. My sister texted and suggested we share a tea cake so that was a late lunchit was nice to leave the farm shop cafe at 4.30pm and it was still light, with a big full moon rising above the farm..
Dinner was LO veg from yesterday with pan fried lambs liver and onions
Farway looking at the weather forecast you will need you're thermals at Wisley tomorrow :eek:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good evening everyone,
My Dad did the Ancestry DNA test last year and the results were pretty much as expected given our family background and family name origins. One unexpected trace though was markers from the Black Sea area but a small percentage so must be several generations back.
We've had some very heavy sleet showers but the skies cleared late afternoon and the frost has fallen again now it's dark.
I thought I might be joining the "ratty" brigade when I thought I saw one in my log store. I spotted movement and beady eyes but thankfully it was just a rather panicked black bird which flew off when I had a closer look. There may well be other "visitors" in there but if I don't see them and they stay out of the house, I'm not concerned - what I don't know won't hurt me;).
My lurgy still lurks, it seems to be here for the winter, mind you I've had it for much less time than one of my neighbours who has been snuffling/spluttering for over 6 weeks now. I'm only about to hit week 3 so it may well be here for a good bit yet:eek:.
My sister & nephew popped by for a cuppa and a catch up, then late afternoon my Dad arrived bearing a thick slice of Stornway Black Pudding as he had been given a largeish one. It will be had for lunch tomorrow.
Lamb & gravy and mash are both defrosted so just those to heat and some veg to prep probably homegrown French beans from the freezer and fresh Brussels sprouts. Bunch was a naughty but tasty "fry up" of lorne sausage, tattie scone, egg and tomato followed a couple of hours later with satsumas and grapes.0 -
Good evening everyone.
I hope that all of our lurgys clear up this week it’s been a rough few weeks for we CFO’ers. Mine is improving but still not gone. I’ve stopped aching and my headache has gone which is a bonus
A fairly lazy day here, have just been getting my back pack ready for uni tomorrow and printing lecture slides off for the week. You’d think for £9000 a year the printing would be done for us but it isn’t :rotfl: Ever the good money saver I try to be I’ve got a small bottle of milk, teabags and my flask cup ready so I can have cups of tea throughout the day. As student rep I led a revolt last year to get the students a kettle, microwave, sink and water cooler on our floor of the building. I refuse to pay the cafe prices as it’s ran by Costa
Lunch today was spicy lentil soup and crackers with pate and tea tonight was a baked potato with beans and cheese. I’ve made a meal plan for the week which I personally like as I don’t have to think every day about what to have. I do one long think once a week instead0 -

There's something on Facebook called something like NPE = Not Parent Expected.

Yesterday I started stacking up things, working towards food today ... it started with a bowl and a bag of rice, couple of onions, tin of chickpeas. I was thinking of making a spicy rice.... might toss a tin of spuds in there too. I'd just eat that on its own if it happens. I am quite happy to just eat big bowl of rice.... it'd be nice to have, say, a curry sauce with it ... but that won't happen
Or ... I might suddenly have a new rush of genius and pop all that lot back in the cupboard
The issue is: most of that lot is long-life stuff, tins .... and there is other food I should be eating first. e.g. something out of the freezer... or that soup I made 2 days ago and haven't touched as I didn't fancy itI could even do that soup with a bread roll from the freezer!

Up earlier, nice red moon through the window, CBA to try & take a picture, I've never taken a decent moon shot anyway
Very frosty outside, nice bowl of porridge for breakfast
Warm coat, woolly hat & gloves ready for Wisley walking, bit dull now but it's always nice there, for me anyway. First stop is the cafe anyway:)
Lunch, whatever is in the cafe
Dinner, no idea
Last night's beef slice, chips & beans was very nice, just the job
I used McCann's chips that I bought on offer as part of top up at same time as new freezer
Has to be said, they are far better than the budget ones I've been using:(PasturesNew wrote: »There's something on Facebook called something like NPE = Not Parent Expected.

Hope you are over your lurgy Farway. The rat seems to have gone, son put 4 trays down, 3 were got at so I topped em up, the one near the dryer trunk was not touched. The 2nd lot were nibbled at and topped up again and now nothing touched. Son came back a week later and has checked cupboards etc, no sign, so can only conclude it came in when door was open on way to dustbin !! There is a grill over the trunk outlet. Have been Freecycling all week to clear bedrooms etc ready for Canadian visitors, also done a mini meal plan using stuff from freezer, have been trying to use up some of the freezer stuff, Xmas nice stuff is always in large packs so does take a while. Bought beef bones and put in SC so have been having a sort of chunky soup/stew for 3 days, very nice. Good luck everyone.0
